MSF Q&A [#permalink]
Hi Anthony,

Thanks for the advice. My aim is to get into asset management. Will UIUC help me get there? I am wondering if I should apply for UT Austin and BC after depositing the amount. Final deadline for international students is in second week of February.

My main concern with UIUC is its 50k fee without scholarships and too many International students to place.

I am trying to make an informed and well thought decision before investing a good fortune on my education. Please let me know your views on the above points.

UIUC is a great school, but you are correct with your assertions. I'd apply to both of those schools, but if you get into WUSTL you could save your money and time and just go there.

List of 3-year undergrad accepting per-experience programs ? (maybe that's too much to ask)
I know that's a 'no' from Vanderbilt , nova, brandies (needs min 2 yr work ex.) , CM tepper , UI UrbanaC, UT Austin.I am not even thinking about the big-guys (Stern, columbia, kellog) Not much left to dishearten.

Re: MSF Q&A [#permalink]
Hi,

I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Been admitted to Syracuse- Whitman (with scholarship, roughly 20%) and USC- Marshall (financial aid doesn't look likely, quite a steep choice!).
Have been working for a year in India with a top Investment bank and am looking to specialize, hence the MSF.

Criteria:
1. Quality of program
2. Cost
3. Placement
4. Location

I've also applied to MIT, JHU and Rutgers and haven't heard anything yet. But keeping them out of the equation, I have a decision to make, between the 2, in 10(ish) days.
Would really appreciate some quick insight here. :?

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I've been admitted to Johns Hopkins. Pretty sure will be admitted to UIUC and UT Austin. I'm an international student from Singapore (1-year WE). My main criterion is placement in US in M&A, consulting, or PE. Which univ out of the three (UIUC, JHU, and UT Austin) has the highest chance to land me a job in US?

Much appreciate your insight. Thanks!

Take UTA if you get an admit. I'd do UIUC over Hopkins also. Just target jobs in Chicago.

Hi Anthony,

Can you throw some light on WUSTL's Global Masters of Finance? Is this worth it or should we stick to Olin's MSF?

Re: MSF Q&A [#permalink]
Hi!
i have to say i have learnt quite a lot from this site.
would please like to throw in this question; i plan to apply for a program in the us next year (im from africa) by which il have about 4yrs work experience as an auditor in the top 4 accounting firms. was initially considering an msf but i read somwhere in the thread that anything above a 3yr experience is better off doing an mba.i also read that if u cant get into the top 15 mba programs then its not worth it.
so i would please like to know if to chase the mba or the msf considering my stats; 4yrs experience as an auditor, ACCA chartered, 3.5/4 CGPA in a top school in my country...i am yet to write the gmat.
my problem with going for the mba is the cost.my initial plan was to apply to wharton for the mba finance(a lot of pple i know have gotten scholarships from wharton thats why i am applying) and apply to UT austin for an msf (as a fall back since its cheaper).
the aim at the end of the day is to hopefully get job placements in a good company with prospects afterwards.il like to specialise in asset management/venture capital but im flexible.
il appreciate any advice i can get
NB; my work experience is auditing majorly oil companies hence considering applyin to Austin but im flexible so i wont mind working with the FMCGs, airline industries etc..i just want something..different

Hi Anthony,

I am eagerly waiting for your reply on Olin's Global Masters of Finance. I was offered admission in it. I paid an initial deposit of US$2k at UIUC. I am in a confused state as Olin's GMF program is pretty new and it is dependent on Singapore Management University's career services. I have to revert back to Olin within two days. So i would appreciate if you can reply to this post within the next two days
