Congrats Ban - from a nascent member in the forum! [#permalink]
[quote="Thank you all for your wishes. Now that I am done with my apps, I have lil time to write a short write up abt my exp.
Also I will be vacationing starting from today and all thro Jan, so I will be checking msgs few times within now and then.....:[/quote]

Hi Ban (if I may call you so),
Heartiest congrats on making your dreams come true!
First things first, your earlier post (the longish narration of your MBA journey so far :) ) was highly inspirational for me! Thanks a ton for the post. I'm already on my toes to gear up for my GMAT.
As an IT guy (but certainly not the 'IT type' ) working in India, I have started working towards getting more out of my life and aligning my goals with my personality. But I'm not sure whether I would like to stay in IT industry or I would want to make a switch. Though it may sound silly at a moment when I am preparing for my GMAT, but trust me Ban, this is my greatest dilemma. FYI I have completed 1.5 years in this field.
Can you suggest me how to resolve this conflict within me? Often I find myself swinging between two fields (IT and marketing) and this shifts my focus from GMAT prep, to the 'what-I-wanna-do' predicament  . Please advice!!!!

MBA options after a 3.5 years of IT exp [#permalink]
Hello,
I am just starting my journey for the MBA.
I am from the most common category :
IT with 3.5 yrs exp (1.5 yrs in Zurich, switz.) for a well known MNC.
I plan to take the GMAT in 2007 April and for MBA in 2008 batch.

I have an overall First class (GPA around 3.7)
Have got two appreciation awards from my company.

Can you please suggest me what range of schools i should look for (rankings) to start with.
I am interested in management consulting( frankly thats the only field i know a bit , other than finance and marketing).
Thank you very much for your reply.

Am very much inspired by the posts on this group.
You guys are doing a great job

Pats.

A very late congrats Banerjee!!! Your post made my day, as we have somewhat similar profiles (30 years old, Engineer with more extracurricular leadership than in work leadership, applying to ultra-elite schools).

Very happy to hear your story, and I love how you talked about focusing on your extracurricular/soft-skills instead of tech.

BTW, what did you write about your career goals? How did you "study" for it as to sound logical and convincing?

Thank you!
