Hi!

Another applicant here for the Jan 2016 program intake!

Any tips for the application?

Regarding international experience section in the application - Can I also mention my travels/solo back-packing trips? Or they only give importance to International professional or volunteer experience?

Regards

I think international professional experience (work outside of home country or diversity of work team) is what is preferred although mentioning your travel experience won't hurt your application. Are you in for R1 or R2?

Aiming for R1. So you are saying working in a global firm/team and interacting with people from different regions also counts?

I am attending the in-house event in Jan in Singapore so will get more info from admissions representative as well.

Does anyone know what happens if you don't get an interview call in R1 by April 1st week - does that mean you are rejected in R1 itself?

Do they consider you for R2 interview in that scenario?

Just trying to understand - Whether I would have to wait till May R1 notification or I will get to know by April itself.

[Help with INSEAD application - 2014 Alum]

Hi all,

I recently graduated from INSEAD (Class of December 2014) and it will be a few weeks until I get back to work. In the meanwhile, I would be happy to help some of you guys with the application - profile review, essays, interviews and so on. I have recently gone through the app process and of course the wonderful MBA experience and would be able to share some insights which would hopefully help you enhance your application.

I started at the INSEAD Singapore campus, interned at a sportswear brand in India and completed the program at Fontainebleau.

Feel free to PM me if you wish to connect. All the best - INSEAD is truly an amazing, transformative experience!

Cheers!

Aiming for R2. I've already taken the GRE. Wondering if I should go for GMAT as well.

Attended the in-house event in Singapore last friday and super pumped (and scared) to start my INSEAD application for R1.

I will have about 41 months of experience by the time I matriculate. Do you think this is too low for INSEAD standards?

Although I certainly feel I am ready for MBA and ready for INSEAD given my work-experience, professional background, achievements etc.

Why pumped and scared? :-D :-D

I will be in Singapore on 2nd or 3rd of February to have a visit to the campus! Are you based in Singapore?

41 months is enough. I had exactly the same when I matriculated.

Singaporean, turning 33, 7 years WE in leadership positions. GMAT 740. Applying to R1 for Jan 16 intake.

Really stoked about INSEAD. As opposed to US schools which have strong preferences for younger applicants with 2-4 years WE, INSEAD values applicants who have strong and sustained track records of leadership and achievement. Campus event in late 2014 cemented the attraction. Professor was outstanding in his delivery, admissions staff were personable and helpful. The career office also gave a quick presentation. Great sell all in all. Will be attending another on 13 Feb. Hoping to be able to attend a class.

Addendum: INSEAD alumni have by far been the most forthcoming and passionate about their school. I think it says a lot about the quality and the experience. Leading up to my applications, I had access to 1 HBS alumnus and 1 Kellogg alumnus, but have spoken to up to 4 INSEAD alumni on different occasions. I haven't heard of a bad experience yet.

Hi,

I too will be applying to this intake. I am British with a background in consulting wishing to do a switch to the startup / tech space. I have a couple of friends at INSEAD who all told me great things about the school.

For anyone interested in consulting (BBM), please PM if you want advice.

For anyone interested in tech, you should sign up to this email list, it's run by current students, and has lots of interesting articles / job postings (and its free!).

Good luck to all!

Re: INSEAD January 2016 Intake (Class of December 2016) [#permalink]
Hello everyone! I'm trying to reach to a decision with respect to whether to apply in R1 or R2. Would appreciate if you could help me think through this and take the best possible decision.

My current GMAT score is 710 (Q:97%ile; V: 71% - relatively skewed). I now have two options: (1) go with this score and apply in R1 or (2) retake GMAT, aim for something like 740+ (with better verbal score) and apply in R2.

While INSEAD says that once you are in 70-75% range in both Q and V, you are competitive, however, the application pool I come from has extremely high GMAT average (brief profile: Indian, 5+ in M&A: 1 year in Spore + HK combined + 4 years in Mumbai; regular travels to SE Asia for client meetings). GMAT will require a big time commitment and hence, I want to think through it very well before diving into it.

I understand that GMAT is not the sole criteria, and other aspects of an application is closely looked at. But, I do not want to be in position, in which I'm significantly at a disadvantageous position because of my GMAT verbal score. I know that while there are no easy answers for such questions, I want to consider all the factors before I decide to retake the exam. Many thanks.

P.S: I'm currently admitted at one of Asian schools + awaiting R2 results. I want to do away with GMAT asap so that I can focus on Mandarin classes + networking + other pre-MBA preps.
