Hi guys,

I am a 15D admit, but deferred to 16D, so I'll be joining you guys, starting in Fonty. :-D
As this forum helped me a lot with app prep, I want to contribute to helping the 16D prospects.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the application/interview process. And I'll try my best to answer them.

Cheers

Hmm... We seem to have a very similar thought process

I remembered something that I wanted to share with you, as you are preparing your application packages.

I spoke to quite a few people here at INSEAD, and it seems like the majority (just like me) hired admissions consultants to prepare their applications. There's hardly any data available on that, but just keep in mind that many people are leveraging experts' advice, which adds up to the competitive pressure. And given that INSEAD does not encourage re-application, it makes sense to consider this in order to maximise your chances.

Hi merryweather,

Did you feel like the admission consultants helped you get in or improved your application significantly? I am applying to Jan '16 R1 and i haven't hired any consultants.
Do you think it would help if i hired someone to conduct mock interviews? I feel like it is a bit late to make significant changes to essays...

Hi nishicool,

Yes, I felt like they improved my essays significantly. 2 weeks is enough to review and make some changes. Well, of course, if you feel like doing so. Interview preparation is important if you dont feel confident, but value of consultants at this stage is less significant, in my view.

Guys, I am confused about which round to apply. R1 is out for me since i still have to take the GMAT and need time to work on the application. R2 looks a little stretched with 22nd April deadline but can be managed. With R4 now coming into picture, do you think its safe to apply in R3 rather than stretch to make it to R2 ?. I read that the number of students accepted/total applicants remains roughly constant for all rounds. So will i am wondering whether the final admitted pool will have a 30-30-25-15 or a 30-30-30-10 kind of a distribution across the 4 rounds.

In your case I would apply in R2 to be on the safe side. + good portion of scholarships are oferred only for R1 and R2 applicants.

There is plenty of them (even on this forum). Here's a link with a few companies and their rates:
https://poetsandquants.com/2010/09/20/leading-firms-in-mba-admissions-consulting/
I personally hired Fortuna Admissions, because they have ex-INSEAD Admissions people working for them. So these guys know their job quite well.

Full package is quite expensive but I don't think you'll need that - most likely 1 or 2 hours will be enough.

Good luck!

R1 applicant here. Just submitted an hour ago. Super stoked about INSEAD. Been a long journey so far, the wait will be weird and frustrating/stressful.

Submitted my INSEAD application few mins ago. Have a question: While taking gmat in 2014, I entered INSEAD as one of the schools to receive my gmat score. Should I have attached a copy of my gmat score while submitting the form?

I did, but I think they will let you know if it's missing and they want it. But yes, indeed they have an electronic copy their side too (I think).

Your AO should have informed you that INSEAD might not be checking the Pearson report for R1 so they expected it attached. You can mail it directly to the AO.

Hello everyone! I'm trying to reach to a decision with respect to whether to apply in R1 or R2. Would appreciate if you could help me think through this and take the best possible decision.

My current GMAT score is 710 (Q:97%ile; V: 71% - relatively skewed). I now have two options: (1) go with this score and apply in R1 or (2) retake GMAT, aim for something like 740+ (with better verbal score) and apply in R2.

While INSEAD says that once you are in 70-75% range in both Q and V, you are competitive, however, the application pool I come from has extremely high GMAT average (brief profile: Indian, 5+ in M&A: 1 year in Spore + HK combined + 4 years in Mumbai; regular travels to SE Asia for client meetings). GMAT will require a big time commitment and hence, I want to think through it very well before diving into it.

I understand that GMAT is not the sole criteria, and other aspects of an application is closely looked at. But, I do not want to be in position, in which I'm significantly at a disadvantageous position because of my GMAT verbal score. I know that while there are no easy answers for such questions, I want to consider all the factors before I decide to retake the exam. Many thanks.

P.S: I'm currently admitted at one of Asian schools + awaiting R2 results. I want to do away with GMAT asap so that I can focus on Mandarin classes + networking + other pre-MBA preps.

Hi guys. I am starting at INSEAD in September. I was initially admitted for the January 2015 intake but deferred to September 2015 due to work commitments.

I understand the reason you are anxious about GMAT but I would NOT recommend taking it again. I am sure that it is hard to believe at this stage, but once you are above 700 in GMAT any extra effort is mostly wasted. I would highly recommend spending the extra time on essays and application - INSEAD values interesting people which means that the way you write your essays may have a huge impact. Also, make sure to chase up recommenders who really know you, respect you and want to promote you!

I love how there are so many current students or grads from INSEAD who come into these threads offering advice, help, and tips on application. Also, in the process of applying, I've spoken to 4 or 5 different INSEAD grads and 1 current student. I've received the same enthusiastic offers to help, and heard nothing but good things about INSEAD. I think it says a lot about the prevalent culture of collaboration, and the passion that students have for the programme. Extremely impressed and attracted to INSEAD for many reasons, not least of which is this passion I see.
