Didn't make it either. I do find it rather frustrating that they made us wait for 2 months!

Anyhoo, good luck! Keep hope alive :)

Can't wait for my R2 result. Hopefully, they will start sending them out soon after the Chinese New Year next week and I can finally start to concentrate on my work!!

It seems (from messages above) that 2 guys from R2 have already received answered, been interviewed, and get admitted.)

I hope it's not a bad sign as we get more and more closer from 10 feb :'(

I don't think so - only one person got admit in R2. The rest are R1. R2 results will start rolling out only after CNY. :-D

R2 applicant, had interview via Skype.

I was looking at some old threads and it seems that sometimes there is a "career consultation" interview after the first two.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Re: HKUST 2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
I do Have the career consultation, even though I still don't have any reply from Adcom '(
In my view it is not linked with the admission process.
Actually they had already proposed me that service juste after the MBA fair in my town last october, I didn't even applied nor created my account on HKUST website :)

To Aviroop :
Well, 1-2 people from this forum and having applied in R2 have already received answers, (it means a lot people, considering not only people from this forum) so it's clear for me that HKUST did not wait CNY or 10 february to send interviews or replys or ding.
The process has started on 16 december.

Re: HKUST 2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
The school is closed from 23 -25 January. I know that HKUST sent out interview invites for R1 applicants on 13th Jan (R1 deadline day). Those candidates are still interviewing or will have their interviews. So R1 process is still continuing.

I don't think that R2 activity has picked up much. It is not reflected among the current admits sent out as approximately only 1/3 of the class spots have been filled.

The R2 interview/admit process will pick up speed once CNY is over - I believe that is what I said in my previous post.

I dont think those numbers could be computed until the entire class is finalized. I am guessing, it should similar to last year.

Did anyone (apart from ones already mentioned here) from Round 2 got an interview invite recently ? Its getting uncomfortably close to the decision date now.

It is indeed getting very uncomfortable. Still waiting for my R2 result and still putting in absolutely no work in office! Can't wait for my misery to end!

Wow- Congrats Aviroop! UCLA is probably one of the best schools in the US if you want to come and work in Asia. Great alum presence in Asia. I work for a BB Bank in Shanghai and the UCLA presence is pretty solid in the APAC division! Not sure of their presence in the US Investment Banking scene though as I haven't had any experience in NA. All the best!

karan - how about hkust's presence in the BB scene in apac? I am quite keen on going to hkust. i have read that most of ucla alumni based in asia are of chinese origin. So its easier for them to get jobs in apac... how is it for indians trying to break into finance in apac..

Congrats Aviroop. UCLA brand is very ubiquitous in the US. You will not have problem breaking new grounds here. Not sure about the banking sector, but it has a global presence in technology sector.

Well...HKUST will miss you if you happen to join UCLA...

Re: HKUST 2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
the funny thing is that ucla made the offer more juicy by giving me a 30k usd scholarship.

unfortunately i am more keen to go into financial services - not too much into tech/general management as my profile is in financial consulting. And that is where HKUST shines gloriously.

I visited both schools. I lived in LA before. Most of my family/friends are emphasizing ucla on the global brand and reputation. I already have a masters from USC so in terms of brand, I am not too worried.

It looks like a difficult choice but I think I am tending towards HKUST. Its high time I tried out something new and HK is one awesome city to live and work in.
