Re: Suggestion on applying to B schools

Hi thanks for your email. US schools like having at least 20% or more of their b-school student bodies hailing from outside the US, and with international applications down, your timing may be good to apply in the US. Having said that, because most of the international applications received in the US are from India, your pool is a deep one and requires you to stand out. With the "minimal" amount of work experience and a GPA and GMAT on the lower end of the 80% range for top schools, I would be focusing on schools in the second tier (15-25 in the rankings) which have deep scholarship pools. You can do some scholarship searching on the web with a focus on fellowships earmarked for international students (there is admittedly not as much money in this area because historically international applicants are not nearly as generous in giving back to US schools after they graduate and return home....After all, that's where the scholarships come from--someone who gives philanthropically back to their school). i would say that if you have only saved enough money for the applications to b-school, then you may want to reconsider your timing in that regard. Some schools would consider that a "not ready" indicator.
