Re: Letters of Recommendation - the guide [#permalink]
Do we need to compose the LOr on a company's letter head?.
My HR told me that its not possible in my current organisation that LOR's can be done with official Letter Heads.

How do I go with this? also which schools do not ask for LOR on a company letter head.

Many Thanks in advance

Is adding Recommender's personal e-mail ok? I have seen that INSEAD asks for official work e-mail. This is a problem with many recommenders as they do not want to get into HR approvals and all.

Please provide feedback!

thanks in advance

Bump!

Very useful post, I personally got travel souvenirs for my future recommenders, way before I am asking them for recommendation. As I work with the government and my budget cannot be >$20 (it would be perceived negatively and my seniors would decline if the gift is too expensive), I got them exotic teas and coffees from turkey, teas and coffee from vietnam on a previous visit, or any other souvenir. This way you can even pass off the gift as being a memento from your travel and is an ice breaker for better relations :).

Hi souvik101990 , thank you, this is very useful info.

Not sure if this will gain any traction in an old post, but are there any tips for reaching out to recommenders while working remotely and being only able to communicate with my managers over Skype?

It's a very different situation compared to being in an office where one can casually walk up to his/her manager to ask for a coffee 'catch-up'. Speaking over Skype seems too objective-driven and messaging managers seems too casual.

I was on a webinar with Yale today and the adcom member said recs move the needle, not the essay.
