Re: McCombs (UT Austin) 2013 Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
Hi,

Has any international student got I20 form from university yet?
I am trying to tick off all the requirements posted on GIAC site, one by one.

I have posted the same message on other thread too: admitted-to-ut-austin-mccombs-class-of-2015-thread-149715.html
But I was not sure how many people have seen this thread; so, posting the same message here.

Thanks,
Namrta

Just received a call from adcom and another email outlining some next steps and links to other info. Texas sure does like to send emails.

Have you decided which offer you will accept?

Not yet. Planning to make my decision after attending the various admit weekends with my fiance, since her thoughts on each city are pretty important.

Good plan. I would like to do the same thing but Scholarship weekend on Simon and preview weekend on McCombs are on the same weekend and its already too much money coming from Europe once.

I really like your choices though. You cannot go wrong. :-D

Still haven't gotten one from them that I would like. Here I am refreshing my page and my inbox and my phone. I had a late interview, the last week of february so I am holding out hope but looking at the stats for the previous rounds on this page it appears nobody got a call on the last day, only confirmation and followup emails from the admit calls.

Trying to find a reason to give myself hope.

Of the 10 R3 admits on this site, did anyone interview in the last week of February?

My recommendation is to enjoy these last few fleeting moments prior to the bad news. Assume the worst, hope for the best, and have a drink (or 10) in the interim.

Just show up for class the first day and act like you were admitted. Just sit in the back for the next couple of years, and maybe no one will notice.

Though I should not be raising false hopes at this stage, I feel that some may take temporary(?) solace from an observation I made:
I did notice that one gentleman admitted in R1 reported to not have received any email, but had discovered that he was admitted when he logged into the application portal. raghav99 on Page 10.

Savor that (while you can?)
:) Cheers!

Hmm.. It really seems like everyone accepted so far interviewed before February 20th.

Even though I was invited to interview days after the R3 deadline, I hope I didn't do myself a disservice by interviewing during the last week of February.

Received another email with all bunch of links. No phone call yet. Maybe they don't call students based abroad.

I am in U.S. based and I never received a call. Just a succession of e-mails like you. I don't know what the rhyme or reason is to it but they don't call everybody.

Got an email, logged in to find out I was Waitlisted, the wait continues
R3 International applicant, so whoever said internationals cannot be waitlisted in R3, this is for you

But does anyone know how waitlists work for R3 for internationals? It makes no sense to wait till the next admit notifications for R4 which is in May. From a visa perspective it might be a lil late by then

Yeah that's me...and guess what they seemed to answer me right back by putting me in it!!!

I guess they do compare international ones to US ones by diversity.

Everyone who hasnt got an email yet - last week the WL'd got the email on thursday and the admitted ones on Friday. I hope that's your cue

Sorry, can you clarify - so you were on the waitlist last week, emailed, and then they accepted you?
Did they ask you for any more information/material?
