GMAT practice tests accuracy

can anyone please help me out

i recently started with CATs and have been scoring in the range of 690-720 on 6 Princeton Review Practice tests....however when i took the Economist test the scores dropped significantly to 480...I’m really worried about my preparation...can’t gauge whether i’ve been preparing wrong or was the economist test really that tough
please help my GMAT exam is due on 14th November

I just wanted to know whether those tests reflected how good you were at gmat.

I am sorry to know your score was not in line with your expectations. In one of your other posts you have mentioned about ordering an ESR for your previous attempt. Did you get it? Have you created a plan for your retake?

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. Since that algorithm is proprietary, no GMAT company has an exact match for it, thus CAT scores can vary a bit based on the 'biases' involved in their respective designs. The most realistic CATs available are the 6 from GMAC (the 2 free CATs, and each of the 2 that come with Exam Pack 1 and Exam Pack 2), so have you taken any of those CATs yet? If you have, then how did you score (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)? If you have not, then you should plan to take one soon (perhaps this weekend). Once you have that score result, you should post back here and we can talk through what all of this data means.

Beyond that data, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

This above answer it would be helpful to me.

4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
