John, an expert in game theory, predicts that negotiations cannot be r [#permalink]
IMHO, not a great question. If you want to get this answer correct, try the elimination method. This will help you home in on D. But this type of question is highly unlikely to appear on the GMAT.

Re: John, an expert in game theory, predicts that negotiations cannot be r [#permalink]
it's a typical break or supplements the causation type question. once you know the conclusion and the premise that led to this conclusion you can try searching for a cause that played the major role or more pronounced role in getting the result that is talked about in the argument.
that not this but some other cause led to this result, thus this causation is not valid and there is some other contributory yet major reason (which establishes a direct causality or plays a more causative part in the process talked about) behind the main conclusion.
that alone gives us enough reason to zero in on D and mark it as the answer.
