Friends,

I took the GMAT for the 2nd time on 20th November and ended up with a far lower score than I first received on October 8th, 2020.

I decided to keep a 6 week gap in order to work on my weak areas based on the 1st test's ESR which showed that my weak areas in Quant were Geometry and Value/Orders/Factors.

In Verbal, CR was the lowest at 33% and SC roughly 59% percentile with a pretty high RC score at around 88% percentile. I have been preparing for the GMAT since Mar 2020.

In terms of resources, I used predominantly

- GMATClub Math Book
- Manhattan SC
- PowerScore for CR
- GMATClub question banks to practice questions. Strictly filtered by selecting only 'Official Guide'
- I previously also signed up with a local test prep company earlier this year that was conducting physical classes until Corona hit and those classes eventually resumed online. So early in my prep, I was using the company's material to get familiar with the various concepts that are tested. Frankly, those classes didn't help much apart from just walking me on the various topics that appear under each section.

Honestly, it is indeed very dissapointing to have received such a lower score as I was hoping that I'd improve over my previous score. I was aiming for a 700-710 score as my official mock tests were recently 650, 720, 730. Yes the last 2 scores, I did happen to see some repeats, but I waited for about 2 minutes and 'solved' it by still looking at each option and rejecting it based on the question stem. I also happened to get a few questions that I had seen before wrong.

Round 2 MiM deadlines are right around the corner and I am a bit lost as to what to do. At this point, a score of 670 and above should be sufficient for me to proceed if not a 700. Should I consider signing up for any Verbal/Quant course especially something on the lines of Target Test Prep? EmpowerGMAT ScottTargetTestPrep please advise

Hi Sakshi,

I was in your situation a few months ago. I scored 570 in my first attempt and improved it to 720 recently. I have made a debrief of my journey of improving my score from 570 to 720. You can go through it to know a few tips.

I suggest you to choose a course which can help you with a study plan and application of concepts and provides you with standard questions and detailed solutions. Check the free trials of the courses and choose the one which suits you. I would suggest GMATWhiz as it helped me overcome my weaker areas. All the best :)

In my original post, I have already mentioned the math guide as one of the resources that I used.
