Hi jv123,
I'm sorry to hear that your 2nd attempt did not go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
1) How long have you studied in total? Over the last 6 weeks, how many hours do you typically study each week?
2) Did you use any other study materials besides the books that you mentioned? What is the name of the course that you took?
3) Over the course of ALL of your studies, on what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) What specific application deadlines are you facing?
While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). Since you have the ESR for your 1st attempt, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you (and if you purchase the ESR for your 2nd attempt, then I'll analyze that for you too).

1) I have been studying since March 2020. I started my in-person classes initially with the test prep company for 2 weekends. Then a national lockdown was announced and those classes were stalled for roughly 2 months until May and then resumed online. So 'serious studying' I'd say since mid-June. Over the last 6 weeks I'd say on AVERAGE, could be anywhere from 36-38 hours per week.
2) No, I have mentioned whatever I have used. The test prep company is a local company that has traditionally offered Quant + Verbal in-person classes in the past. I'd rather reveal the name over a DM for privacy reasons.
3) I did initially start taking mocks designed by the test prep company. But since you'd be more interested to know about the official GMAC mock scores, I have listed them below:
20th August: GMAC Test 1- 570 (Q41, V27)
12th Sept: GMAC Test 2- 700 (Q49, V36) * Note: this was the first time I attempted this and happened to see 2-3 repeats from Exam 1 strangely.
20th Sept: GMAC Test 3- 560 (Q36, V31)
24th Sept: GMAC Test 4: 640 (Q46, V33)
1st Oct: GMAC Test 5 : 610 (Q43, V31)
6th Oct: GMAC Test 3 (Reset): 730 (Q49, V40)
8th Oct
Real GMAT 1: 610 (Q42, V31)
30th October: Veritas Free Mock- 640 (don't really remember the split)
2nd November: GMAC Test 4- 700 Q48, V38
9th November: GMAC Test 2- 730, Q49, V40
18th November: GMAC Test 5- 640, Q45, V34 (Felt a bit exhausted that day)
20th November
Retake of the Real exam: 530 Q42, V21
4) I am interested in MiM programs, especially the top ones such as HEC, ESSEC, Queen's University, ESCP that have deadlines between January 4th, 2021- January 26th, 2021. A few others happen to be a little later in March such as some programs in Germany. But I am still facing a time crunch as I need to work on my application essays and inform my recommenders in advance so that they have sufficient time.
