Fish breeder - Recommends drain and refill the ponds.
Exporter - Recommends feeding increased doses of vitamins .

We need to weaken exporter's point.

A. The Smith-Kreal disease, first identified and investigated by Erwin Smith and Jason Kreal, is so violent that it can overpower any form or level of biological defense a fish may have.
Looks correct. It challenges the exporter's recommendation, saying the defense gained by the vitamins will not save the fish.
B. The drainage of a fish-breeding pond can be a stressful event that can result in the unnecessary death of many fish.
Attacks Fish breeder's point.
C. Diseases in fish can be prevented by strengthening the animals through appropriate medication or dietary manipulation.
Supports exporter's point.
D. Because it can only be contracted by genetically engineered fish, the Smith-Kreal disease was only discovered in 1994.
It does not impact anything in the argument.
E. While vitamin supplements improve general health of fish in ponds, they have been found to be inefficient in helping fish withstand the shock of pond drainage and transfer.
The aim is not to make the fish efficient to withstand the shock of the pond drainage and transfer, but to sustain against the illness.

Fish breeder: A rare illness known as Smith-Kreal disease is spreading continuously and has already killed 19% of our fish. I recommend that we drain and refill the ponds while executing some form of isolation operation.

Exporter: That would not help. We should feed the fish with increased doses of vitamins to strengthen their immune systems against any viral attack.

Which of the following, if true, most weakens the exporter's suggestion?

Exporter says: Raise immunity to fight disease vs. Breeder says: Isolate fish and keep them in new water.

We need to weaken the idea about raising immunity to fight the disease. Let's first figure out options which weaken the Exporter's suggestion

A. The Smith-Kreal disease, first identified and investigated by Erwin Smith and Jason Kreal, is so violent that it can overpower any form or level of biological defense a fish may have.

Weakens

B. The drainage of a fish-breeding pond can be a stressful event that can result in the unnecessary death of many fish.

Weakens breeder's suggestion not exporter's

C. Diseases in fish can be prevented by strengthening the animals through appropriate medication or dietary manipulation.

Strengthens exporters claim

D. Because it can only be contracted by genetically engineered fish, the Smith-Kreal disease was only discovered in 1994.

Out of scope

E. While vitamin supplements improve general health of fish in ponds, they have been found to be inefficient in helping fish withstand the shock of pond drainage and transfer.

Out of scope, this option is on how supplements can help fish withstand the shock of pond drainage. Our question is about how supplements can help fight the DISEASE.

IMO A - took me 1 min 20 Secs

Stimulus - There is a SK disease which has killed 19% of Fish in a Pond hence Fish Breeders suggested a plan which would involve draining & Refill & Systematic Isolation of Fishes.

The Exporters rejected the same without providing any counter evidence to prove that this method will not help. The Exporters simply gave another solution of increasing the doze of vitamins to strengthen immune system of the Fishes.

We need to Weaken Exporters Argument

A. The Smith-Kreal disease, first identified and investigated by Erwin Smith and Jason Kreal, is so violent that it can overpower any form or level of biological defense a fish may have. - Ok so Vitamins won't be that helpful as the biological defense ie. immune system will be overpowered by this virus.

B. The drainage of a fish-breeding pond can be a stressful event that can result in the unnecessary death of many fish.- this strengthens exporters argument by printout flaws in Breeders Solution.

C. Diseases in fish can be prevented by strengthening the animals through appropriate medication or dietary manipulation.
- ok we know that but does that mean death rates would reduce or it would prevent deaths ? - This is slightly strengthening the Exporters argument.

D. Because it can only be contracted by genetically engineered fish, the Smith-Kreal disease was only discovered in 1994. - Ok unnecessary information - Does Nothing.

E. While vitamin supplements improve general health of fish in ponds, they have been found to be inefficient in helping fish withstand the shock of pond drainage and transfer. - Ok this is out of scope.

Which of the following, if true, most weakens the exporter's suggestion?

A. The Smith-Kreal disease, first identified and investigated by Erwin Smith and Jason Kreal, is so violent that it can overpower any form or level of biological defense a fish may have. Correct

so, medication will not help to reduce death of fishes

B. The drainage of a fish-breeding pond can be a stressful event that can result in the unnecessary death of many fish. Incorrect

it partially support exporters argument

C. Diseases in fish can be prevented by strengthening the animals through appropriate medication or dietary manipulation. Incorrect

support exporters argument

D. Because it can only be contracted by genetically engineered fish, the Smith-Kreal disease was only discovered in 1994. Incorrect

new info

E. While vitamin supplements improve general health of fish in ponds, they have been found to be inefficient in helping fish withstand the shock of pond drainage and transfer. Incorrect

it doesnt talk about death from virus

Which of the following, if true, most weakens the exporter's suggestion?

A. The Smith-Kreal disease, first identified and investigated by Erwin Smith and Jason Kreal, is so violent that it can overpower any form or level of biological defense a fish may have. -> So vitamins supplement won't work. It weakens the Exporter conclusion. Let's keep it.

B. The drainage of a fish-breeding pond can be a stressful event that can result in the unnecessary death of many fish. -> It is weakening Fish breader conclusion. Incorrect.

C. Diseases in fish can be prevented by strengthening the animals through appropriate medication or dietary manipulation. -> Strengthening the Exporter. Incorrect.

D. Because it can only be contracted by genetically engineered fish, the Smith-Kreal disease was only discovered in 1994. -> Irrelevant.

E. While vitamin supplements improve general health of fish in ponds, they have been found to be inefficient in helping fish withstand the shock of pond drainage and transfer. -> Still supporting the exporter. Incorrect.

So, I think A. :)

We need to weaken the exporter suggestions.

A. The Smith-Kreal disease, first identified and investigated by Erwin Smith and Jason Kreal, is so violent that it can overpower any form or level of biological defense a fish may have. - perfect. This explains why feeding any sort of vitamins won't be useful. Correct

B. The drainage of a fish-breeding pond can be a stressful event that can result in the unnecessary death of fish. - reversal. Incorrect

C. Diseases in fish can be prevented by strengthening the animals through appropriate medication or dietary manipulation. - If in any case it strengthens exporters claim. Incorrect

D. Because it can only be contracted by genetically engineered fish, the Smith-Kreal disease was only discovered in 1994. - irrelevant

E. While vitamin supplements improve general health of fish in ponds, they have been found to be inefficient in helping fish withstand the shock of pond drainage and transfer. - again irrelevant

IMO A

Fish breeder: A rare illness known as Smith-Kreal disease is spreading continuously and has already killed 19% of our fish. I recommend that we drain and refill the ponds while executing some form of isolation operation.
Exporter: That would not help. We should feed the fish with increased doses of vitamins to strengthen their immune systems against any viral attack.

Which of the following, if true, most weakens the exporter's suggestion?

Pre-thinking: The exporter's suggestion is weakened if any of the following is true:
1. Increased doses of vitamins are not available.
2. The immune systems is not strengthened even after giving the fish increased doses of vitamins.
3. A strengthened immune system of the fish doe not protect them against the viral attack.

A. The Smith-Kreal disease, first identified and investigated by Erwin Smith and Jason Kreal, is so violent that it can overpower any form or level of biological defense a fish may have.
Option A is on the lines of point 3 mentioned above. Option A states that even if vitamins are are increased, it will not help the fish. This weakens the exporter's suggestion. Keep Option A.

B. The drainage of a fish-breeding pond can be a stressful event that can result in the unnecessary death of many fish.
Option B does not relate to or talk about the viral attack to the fish. Hence it is irrelevant. Drop Option B.

C. Diseases in fish can be prevented by strengthening the animals through appropriate medication or dietary manipulation.
Too generic. Passage talks about a specific cases. Drop Option C.

D. Because it can only be contracted by genetically engineered fish, the Smith-Kreal disease was only discovered in 1994.
Irrelevant information. Drop Option D.

E. While vitamin supplements improve general health of fish in ponds, they have been found to be inefficient in helping fish withstand the shock of pond drainage and transfer.
Same error as Option B. Drop Option E.

IMO answer should be Option A.
