(D) 150

Assume the initial price of 100
X sold to Y at 28% profit, then the price is at 128
Y sold to Z at 25% loss, then the price is 128 * 75% = 96
The difference from X to Z is 4, which by the question supposed to be 2
This means that the initial price is twice assumption is twice than supposed to (4 is 2x 2), therefore we need to divide the initial assumption by 2 to get to the answer: 100/2 = 50
The answer is B

skiseki Hi! The difference from X to Z is 4. How is this possible? Shouldn't the difference be 128 - 96?

x = cost to x

Cost to y => 1.28x = y
Cost to z => 0.75*1.28*x = z

z = x -2

Equate both,
0.75*1.28*x = x-2

Solving which we get, x = 50

Hey AbhaGanu
The difference amount should be the difference btw the amount at which x purchase it at cost since this is mentioned in the question[100-96]
