Male White American
Age: 27
College: Indiana University
GPA: 3.3
Major: Finance
GMAT: 660 (q47, v33)
Experience: 5 years in the Wealth Management Department at a large Trust Bank. I am currently an investment officer but I don't have anyone reporting to me.

I am a certified financial planner and have passed level 1 of the CFA.

I don't know if it matters but I was a director in college for our Dance Marathon which raised over $600,000 for the Riley's Children Hospital. I am currently a mentor for the program and they raised over $1,000,000 this year.

I am looking at Ultra Elite schools but thinking about going part time to Kellogg or Chicago since that is where I currently live.

rpfinley,

$600,000? Wow, that's a lot of money. Given your GMAT, lack of direct management exposure, and, apparently, lack of current community (not to mention you common demographic profile), I think you are overshooting with Ultra Elites. Applying part-time would increase your odds, but Kellogg and Chicago would probably still be long-shots. Assuming your goal is finance, you might consider Indiana, Ohio State, Duke, Rochester.

Thanks for the reply, things have changed at work where I might get some clients to manage (in portfolio management) so I am planning on waiting a year before applying for my MBA - its probably for the best since I am getting married in July.

Other then improving my verbal/gmat score could you make some recommendations on what I can do the next year to improve my profile? I will be taking level 2 of the CFA so my free time the next 6 months is limited.

rpfinley,

If you raise the GMAT and deepen the leadership in and outside of work you should be fine. If you plan to spend a month or two in Myanmar saving rare animal species (or similar unusual international experience, excluding tourist travel) that might make your application a little more interesting.
