Traditionally, everyone who is waitlisted is considered for future rounds until either denied or admitted.
So you could be invited to interview in round two or round three.
I feel it would be unlikely for them to give you a straight admission after a waitlist, without an interview. However strange things have been happening last few years.
I would probably recommend reaching out to the admissions team and clarifying what you should expect from the waitlist process. Usually there is a waitlist manager to whom you can send updates or who may reach out for updates to you. Updates and improvements to your waitlist status, could include anything from improved test, scores, promotions, raises, any awards, or other meaningful items. You can also Talk to current students and perhaps ask them to send a letter of support for you, but those are generally pretty weak. If you had a low quant score, you could take a Quant course of some kind and then present the results and share them with admissions team. Again, most likely you would be put back into the evaluation pool for round two, but it would be nice to know it 100%.

But then will there be an interview if the waitlist clears or a direct admission?
