In other news, I went on a lovely trek (hike) last weekend. I got back at 4:00 AM this morning tired, hungry, dirty as hell(!) and sleepy. I'll post a couple of pics sometime later. Quick question to the American outdoor enthusiasts here: how 'wild' is the trekking in America? I ask 'cause here, when we head out, we are pretty much on our own. And we don't have laid out trails. So we ask the (usually) very helpful locals before we head out and then find our own way. Even in emergencies, we are at least 24 hours away from any kind of professional medical aid. I was speaking to this friend of mine who lives in the US and he said that there, everything is more or less 'set' for you and you just have to "go on the trek (as you would on any other trip) and come back". I want to know if any of you have had any different experiences while hiking in the US.
