@ helg: It sounds like your GSB interview went really well! AWESOME! I really hope you get in. You so deserve it.
@ bsd: Now that you've got yourself a laptop and an internet connection, you can stay on these forums all day long
In other news, I went on a lovely trek (hike) last weekend. I got back at 4:00 AM this morning tired, hungry, dirty as hell(!) and sleepy. I'll post a couple of pics sometime later. Quick question to the American outdoor enthusiasts here: how 'wild' is the trekking in America? I ask 'cause here, when we head out, we are pretty much on our own. And we don't have laid out trails. So we ask the (usually) very helpful locals before we head out and then find our own way. Even in emergencies, we are at least 24 hours away from any kind of professional medical aid. I was speaking to this friend of mine who lives in the US and he said that there, everything is more or less 'set' for you and you just have to "go on the trek (as you would on any other trip) and come back". I want to know if any of you have had any different experiences while hiking in the US.
Well, just last week I was walking down to the Apple store and found myself face to face with a barracuda, err I mean a Ferocious Alpine Mountain Lion with Super Fangs.
My training from the GSB just took over. I knew what to do thanks to my coursework in "Advanced Cougar and Rabid Dog Analytics". I quickly and deftly stepped to the side, picked up a 8 and 1/2 by 11 inch piece of paper and in one quick ninja like move made a paper airplane which I threw into the street. This distracted the mountain lion just long enough for me to pull out my McGyver Survival Kit and create a GPS homing device out of dried alpaca poop, a toothpick, a can of coke and a old used sneaker. Fortunately, before leaving I had packed fourty liters of embryonic fluid that I threw over my head and soaked myself in. This confuses the lions sense of smell, makes it think about the movie Carrie where she goes totally nuts at the end cause she has that blood on her, and gives me just long enough to turn on the homing device.
Its a jungle out there, prepare yourself.
