rhyme,
i am waiting to hear from stanford before making my decision...if stanford works out then i will be going there....otherwise it is between kellogg and chicago

still not sure which one i will pick out of the two. my career track is social entrepreneurship/social enterprise. kellogg seems to be stronger in that area (SEEK program, more course selection, internship opportunities etc.). i keep on going back and forth between the two though...chicago gave me 2 times the scholarship kellogg gave me...

my bf (soon to be husband) votes kellogg, my bestfriend (soon to be maid of honor) votes chicago. my last day of work was friday so i will spend some time at both schools this week to get a better feel. i will probably start a poll soon

GH, still wishing you best of luck with Stanford but you wont go wrong with either school in Chicago, both are great and so are all the clubbers heading to each. After admit weekends you will probably know where you want to be. You can always ask Kellogg to reevaluate your scholarship, you never know could work and then you can take that out of the equation.

thanks for the good wishes, river. i will definitely ask kellogg for more money. i will try not to make money too much of a factor though....although at some point it will become a factor.....the less debt i have when i graduate the easier it will be for me to focus on my nonprofit goals instead of pursuing higher paying jobs to pay back debt

Also check out the schools loan forgiveness for non-profits/public service. Kellogg has a program and Chicago may also have one.

Hey rhyme, i'm matriculating for sure. I have a couple of questions for you though.

1. What are the chances that Chicago will give me more $$$ if I ask?
2. Housing: If i'm not able to make it till Chicago till mid-Aug, what is the best way for me to settle my housing needs. I'm pretty set on a couple of places. Just don't know how to go about it. Do I call an agent? Contact the building management directly? Is it too early? Can I pm you if I'm freaking out about this?

Appreciate the help rhyme!

Still in the race for Kellogg (will know tomorrow...). But my heart leans towards Chicago anyway, unless K buys out my loyalty...

It's nothing compared to your Ross package. But you are still coming to Chicago, all right? :-D

My heart leans toward Chicago. But I will need enough strength to reject Wharton (if the waitlist develops into admit).

Just withdraw and it will never turn into anything.

Just kidding, do what you fell is the right thing to do, especially if you're the what if kind of person.

Re: Calling Chicago GSB 2008 applicants [#permalink]
I was sold on Chicago since the time I first saw their MBA viewbook. I spent most of last week reading up on the city of Chicago and the rest of U of Chicago...Being a liberal arts undergrad college, it's not very well known in India. But after reading all the stuff on the net, I am totally in love with this University..

I am still not 100% though since I do not know what to do post MBA. I am waiting to hear from Columbia and Kellogg. Not really impressed with Columbia, but I want to be in NYC and IM is one of the career paths I want to explore. Kellogg is just a better known brand name in India.

Right now, I am just so happy to be in GSB that I don't really care about the rest of the results...

Hopefully the guy in this BW thread is just messing with people: https://forums.businessweek.com/n/pfx/fo ... &tid=75123

Otherwise I hope he withdraws and gives someone like me who wants to go to Chicago a chance.

Rhyme, when do we get your waitlist wisdom? :-D

Wow, this guy is pretty bad. Sometimes these jerks do slip through. Hope it's the anonymity of the internet that makes them do this, and they're not like that in real life.
