For completing the app. I'm still struggling to select my recommenders.

Columbia specified 8 questions for recommenders to answer, I envision at least 1 paragraph per question, that will make the letter about two pages. Do you know how long the recommendation letter should be? 1page, 2 pages or 3+pages?

I can't imagine 3 pages. My recommender said his CBS rec was 1.5 pages.

To put things in perspective, Wharton has 9 rec questions and clearly instructs recommenders to submit only a ONE PAGE document for the rec.

LOL. My class visit in July, wowza, in the olden days they used to write poems about the sort of J-term talent I saw. :)

Thanks guys. I spent more time drafing and redrafting (and editing and redrafting some more!) on this one essay than I probably did on all 4 essays last year. Hopefully it's enough.

A very special thanks to djhouse, for his highly constructive feedback.

I'd go with 500 words.

I work as a consultant and on every project I have a different team, so I'm not sure how to fill out the field for # of people I've supervised - is it the # of people I've supervised in total or the # of people I've supervised per team?

Thanks!

Re: Calling all Columbia Applicants for 2009! [#permalink]
Someone asked this before and I am of the opinion 500 words is actually a bit too much considering 2 of the 3 required essays are recommended to be that long. Another CBS applicant mentioned earlier on the thread that the CBS adcom view on the optional essay was to, ideally, not use it at all.

250 words should be more than enough. Just my opinion however.

Re: Calling all Columbia Applicants for 2009! [#permalink]
Folks, anyone happen to know if the CBS LOR that's made accessible to the recommenders asks for their current position, company, and educational history?

Merci.

And zomg! I just saw on last year's CBS thread that some of the ED folks received interview calls 11 days after their applications went "Under Review." That's amazing. Also learned that interview invites are given after two rounds of application reviews, the third and final review happens after the interviewer submits feedback. Did you guys know this stuff? Is news to me.

Okay back to "refining" essays 1 and 3.
