Calling all Berkeley-Haas Fall 2009 Applicants

you are right! sorry about that. i looked at the top post which was dated just a few days ago, and then the one right underneath, which i assumed would be from the same year. i was wrong. i will remove my post.

Does everyone get a coffee chat invite? And does attending have any effect on your application?

I will be in 3 of the coffee chat cities during end of Dec/beginning of Jan and yet none of the dates line up with my schedule!

It's ok. I'm just giving you a hard time. In all honesty the blog is pretty pathetic and you made a very reasonable mistake. I know because I previously thought the same!

a few answers/comments:

- Berkeley Admissions Blog: Yeah, sorry about that blog. I think they're trying to figure out whether to take the blog down or update it more often. Please check out this blog. It's updated a lot more frequently and has cool pictures of student life here:

- Coffee Chats: Everyone who registered on the Berkeley Admissions website (to do class visits, to submit your application, etc...) should get one. If not, just sign up for the website (or login if you've already signed up) and register for a coffee chat. Don't worry, this has no bearing on your application, it's just a way for you to meet some current students who are in your area during our winter break.

- Super Saturday: Super Saturday for Round 1 is on 1/17/2009. For round 2 it's 3/7/2009. Hope you guys get invited!

I think that answers most of the questions?

All they have to do is supply small status updates - I'd be more than happy with that. No need for long expositions...

actually, what sort of "small updates" would people like to see (not necessarily on the blog, maybe through emails)? I know quite a few of the admissions people and can probably pass on the suggestions.

for realz this time....

i got a heart-stopping email that's actually a blast email to all r1 applicants that says:

"Our first interview invitations will be extended next week, and we will continue to extend interview invitations up until our Round One notification date of January 28, 2009. Please note that you should not be discouraged if you do not receive an interview invitation by our Round One notification date. Some Round One applicants will be offered a place on the waitlist without having been interviewed; these waitlisted candidates are welcome to schedule an interview in February."

so news will hopefully be coming soon.

I got the similar mail. It can be another spam flooding the inbox. Unlike UCLA, UCB is keeping the hopes alive.

Something like today's email would be fine. Decisions will start next week - perfect. Exactly what I was wanting to hear.

awesome that they sent that out (without me asking them yet ). I'm looking forward to hearing all the interview invites come in!

Remember, WHEN you get the interview invite means nothing other than when they get to your file. So don't lose hope!

I finally got my application done! I just need one final read through tomorrow and bam it's in.
