Hi Paul
Please evaluate my profile.
I went to an Ivy League for undergrad as a Comp Sci Major, unfortunately my grades weren't great at all (2.3 overall GPA), but had an upward GPA trend my junior and senior year.
I started off as a technical guy at a big company (Software Bug Tester) for almost 2 years.
I then moved onto a software technology startup as an Account manager for certain clients. I also managed the intern program. I got promoted to manage the production of one of the company's featured products before the company started to not perform well and I got the boot.
I spent 3 months after that out of the work force exclusively studying for the GMAT. I scored a 680 on my GMAT (Q: 48 / V: 35 / AWA: 5) and after I was done, spent the next month traveling around Asia.
As for community involvement post , I have interviewed and assessed high school seniors who are applying to my alma mater. I have also volunteered to tutor students in the Math GED this year.
As for what I want to do after my MBA, I'd want to focus on international management/international business.
I've also thought about pursuing teaching english abroad for 6 months once I have finished my applications. Would this hurt or help my application? Should I instead pursue a regular job instead while I apply?
I'm interested in
UCLA
Georgetown
NYU
Berekeley
Texas
Thanks
gatorfuel,
Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, if you are currently unemployed then find a position in line with your past experience or post-MBA goals rather than teaching English abroad, which doesn't seem to relate to your post-MBA goals. Given your GMAT and Asia time, you will want to strengthen your work profile. Given your profile, Haas, UCLA, and NYU are definite longshots. Texas and Georgetown may be doable but your weak community and GPA and the holes in your work experience will hurt you.
Good luck,
