I did not check the Kellogg site regularly during the last 3 weeks or so, just got tired of it. So I can't say what the online status said right before the e-mail was sent.

I honestly don't think they were splitting hairs with my app, I think I was a fairly clear rejection based on my other results so far. So, I don't think I "survived" any cuts late in the game, for those who are curious about that aspect. Pure conjecture, of course.

What other results? With a 770 GMAT you should be a 100% lock.

Got my ding today as well :-( . I had almost made it to the end of the day safely and then they sent me the 'status changed' email at 4:45 pm CST! It does suck that there is never a positive status changed email, they might as well just send the email saying you have been dinged!

Sigh, I guess I won't be going to a top 5 school, but I'm pretty happy going to Fuqua. Still waiting on Darden but I think I might choose Fuqua over Darden even if I got in.

You guys make me nervous. I'm a 710 GMAT, but I think my essays were quite strong. I am getting quite doubtful though. The worst thing is all this waiting and you never get to know "why not".

Sorry about the dings guys.

Fuqua is a great school! The student environment is amazing there. Congrats on that admit, and don't worry about this ding.

Don't worry at all. Really, I'm convinced it's luck of the draw to a certain extent - and a 710 gmat is great and enough for kellogg. If you haven't heard anything yet, that is a good sign - good luck!

What about your profile do you think helped you get into Booth but not Kellogg? I'm wrapping up my Booth app now, and am trying to take a different approach than I did with Kellogg...

Thanks jlola! Yeah I do think Fuqua is a great school too and in some ways I think the Fuqua culture is quite similar to that at K. People at Fuqua seem to manage to have some fun too and that cant be bad ;-)!

My Q50/V40 is only a 730 and I've seen the same split being 750 in some cases. Thats probably the reason GMAT is not THE only factor. :)

Sorry to hear about the dings some people received. I'm still waiting to hear and trying to prep myself for all of the possible outcmes.

Does anyone know (roughly) what percentage of R1 applicants are placed on the WL?

I also think that the fact that my focus was marketing in my applications put me at a disadvantage at Kellogg. And lastly, I think consultants apply to Kellogg more than Booth.

I would say these are probably spot on. Kellogg gets TONS of consultant applications, so the competition is going to be fierce for people coming out of those jobs. Also wanting to go on marketing is only going to push you into yet another competitive area at Kellogg. Then again, like with everything in the processs sometimes it just seems random. It can be simply the people who read your essays at one school like you more or that the essays of one school allowed you to better sell yourself.

Just got the email...ding for me. Looks like its full speed ahead for Ross and Darden now. Hopefully I'll get one of those. Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting on Kellogg.
