When I login to the Yale SOM system everything is checked off as received, but there are no other steps or statuses. Should it have a line about "Under Review" or anything like that? I just want to make sure my application isn't hung up due to a system issue. Here is what mine says:

01/14 17:24 Received: GMAT Score Report
01/07 08:38 Received: Application
01/07 08:38 Payment Received: 220.00 USD
01/07 08:25 Received: Reference Submitted on 2010-01-07.
12/23 18:09 Received: Reference Submitted on 2009-12-23.
12/12 17:11 Received Copy: Transcript

Is this what it should look like? Thanks.

With that said, count me in the R2 roll call

your app is fine. Mine and a lot of others I assume, look the same.

I had even emailed about something similar and got a standard we are reviewing applications type of response.
That said, I understand how agonizing it could be to wait. I am in the same boat.

Is there a mid- decision date at Yale like some other schools ?

Need some advice..

I sent my GMAT scores through ETS and got a confirmation on the 10th Jan from ETS that they sent my score. However, I do not see a check mark next to the official GMAT score line item when I log in to my Yale application account. I called the office twice and they keep asking me to call back in a week. I am nervous not sure what to do so that I can get that last line item checked..

Same thing happened to me. Give it time. It just takes Yale a while to process them, but they have them.

Thanks.. Just nervous since I read some place it is rolling admissions... so if those interviewed first perhaps have a better chance of getting in...

The same happened to me to other schools 2 weeks ago. I recommend you call MBA.com to ask if anything wrong has happened for every school you had requested. He will let you know his name for further inquiry if admission officers at B-school need contacting MBA.com.

apparently the way it works is that the school needs to login and download your score report . I assume they download it from the MBA.com website but it's from somewhere. (Source - An admissions director)

in your case what your status could mean is that MBA.com has provided the school access to your score but, the score has either not downloaded it yet or downloaded it but not matched it with your application.

In either case considering Yale's stand that they won't review your application without the official score, it clearly means that your application has not been reviewed yet and you have a lot to hope for :)

Their official timeline for matching score reports to your application is 'upto four weeks'.

With this information, I leave it to you to decide what to want to do next. Email/ phone/call / wait.

1) I answered this already during R1. They rarely ever reply back to your "Thank You" email. Thing is, once they reply to your email, applicants tend to constantly reply back with random questions and etc. As a result, interviewers don't respond to your standard "Thank You" email. This applies for job interviews as well.

2) Just because the status webpage on your online application doesn't say something like "application is under review" or etc, it doesn't mean your application is NOT under review. Same thing for GMAt or TOEFL scores.

That status page does not reflect REAL TIME status of your application status. (This isn't like stock market quote where things are updated constantly) Pretty much all the business schools update that status page long after "events" take place. This is because admissions office CAN NOT and DOES NOT have resources to provide real time update of your application status. Chances are, all is good with your application even though the status page doesn't reflect that. (as long as you sent in everything, on your part)

Anxieties like this creep up every year. But I have never heard of YSOM losing/delaying applications (in shuffle or in transition) because they couldn't find GMAT or TOEFL score. As long as you sent it in, it should be all good.

so if those interviewed first perhaps have a better chance of getting in...

Only schools with rolling deadline work that way (low tier schools). Just because one gets interviewed first, it doesn't mean that he/she has better chance of getting an admit.

From what I have read I understand that round 2 interview invites are sent- I hope not all of them have been sent. Any comments?

Adcom is gonna send out interview invites to all the qualified applicants that they want to interview.

Until they have better picture of the number of commitment (yield) from R1 admits, adcom is going to interview all the qualified applicants. Then out of those "interviewed" pool, they will admit people based on their latest yield projection.

In recent years, more people committed to YSOM than projected class size. In some years, they sent out an email for "volunteers" and asked him/her to enroll the following year.

Just got through my class visit and interview today and thought i'd share my experience on the interview. As others have noted it was with a 2nd year student and it was very conversational. We started with some small talk then went through my resume. My interviewer seemed genuinely interested in my current job as software engineer working on unmanned spy planes so we spent a good bit of time on that topic. He asked about my leadership. Then he asked where I pictured myself 5 and 10 years out. Then he asked if I had anything else that I would like the admissions committee to know about me. then we talked about why yale som is such a great school. By then time was up. All in interview lasted 35 min and I thought it went well. There were definitely no hard questions it was very low pressure. Now just have to sit back and wait till decision day.... I asked if they were planning on releasing decisions before the final decision date but I got the we might release some early but don't count on it reply.

Just got the admissions newsletter with an article about 'What happens inside the admissions process. One thing that stood out - About 35% of our applicant pool is interviewed

Now that is a pretty big number. There also was a mention that they have sent out a 'few' invites so far. And, that they expect to send many more.
We have extended a small number of our invitations for the second round, but more will be sent in the coming weeks

And, all round two applicants will hear from them by April 2, 2010. I think this will keep my anxiety down for a few days.

YSOM doesn't "encourage" it (per say) but for any bschool that you are applying to if there is a significant change to your application, you should call the admissions office and let them know. Do this for ALL SCHOOLS. (This isn't YSOM specific answer)
