I dont know how to start and I apologize if my questions are silly but I am definitely looking for some advice.

I had 3 years bachelors degree from India and recently completed my 4 years bachelors degree (BSBA) with a GPA of 3.974. I have 10 years of work experience in IT field. I am yet to take GMAT and assuming that I take GMAT in next few months, do you'll think I will still have time to apply for the class that starts in 2011.

Also, I wanted to know the duration of MBA program at Yale SOM.

----------

You're at the right forum for help. And you dont have to apologize for asking questions - there are no silly questions..maybe bad ones.

I'm no expert, but given your experience and uber-impressive GPA. I think you should apply for R3. Given that you've worked through to complete a 4 year degree after a 3 year undergrad from India definitely highlights your willingness to learn and ability to succeed in an academic setting (If your 4 year degree was highly quantitative - your GMAT quantitative can be about average and you should be fine).

Answering your other question, Yale MBA, like most is a 2 year program. One piece of advice, I've come across some people on this forum (I'm not taking names) who get ticked off answering queries that can be cleared by research on school websites. Just an FYI.

Good luck on the GMAT and your applications.. There are a lot of great people on this forum who are extremely willing to help - Keep posting away.

Cheers!

completed interview last week. Pretty standard stuff - walk through resume, why yale, why mba. nothing really out of the blue. Quite enjoyed my visit to the campus. talked to a few students - all very helpful. All in all a pretty pleasant visit. Guess nothing more to do till April 3 when they announce results.

Interviewed last week at Yale SOM as well. My experience seems to be very similar to what everyone is reporting here. However, for those of us that interviewed early, I believe we'll hear back within 3-4 weeks. Seems like SOM is doing a "invite, interview, and accept as you go" type process. Invites are still going out, and for those who have already interviewed, we will not have to wait til 4/2. I think that is just their insurance date where they guarantee everyone will have heard something by that point. Although, that is just the feeling I get. Anyone with different views?

I certainly hope they release decisions earlier as I interviewed at the end of January and it's a looong wait until April to get a response. I can't tell if cridu's invite will be telling of how R2 decisions are delivered because cridu was actually an R1 applicant. Of course before your post and cridu's acceptance, I was in a somewhat happy place of waiting until April and was not fanatically checking my phone and email for a final decision from Yale, but now I will be checking my phone and email more frequently. Oh well I guess I have no real choice but to keep waiting and hoping for good news.

Hi,

Please add me to the roll call.

26 F
4.5 yrs work experience in non-profit and finance
760 GMAT

I just had my interview today (R2, got the invite on 1/13). Off-campus (Bay Area) with an alum. The interview was a very informal conversation that lasted approx. 50 minutes. The alum was enthusiastic about the school and stressed fit - the diverse backgrounds and interests of the students were a big selling point for him.

Now if only they'd roll out results before the deadline...

Deposit deadline for R1 admits is 2/25; I would be *shocked* if any significant number of decisions are released before then. Personally, I think your obsessive phone/email checking can be postponed until Friday, 2/26.

I am pretty sure that they will not release results before the deadline. At least they did not do so for R1.

Hi,

Could you please add me to the roll call. I applied for R2 and had my interview yesterday. The interview was with an alumni in New Delhi. It was great, informal and friendly. A very pleasant experience. He talked to me mostly about Indian classical music since it is a keen interest of mine. Additionally, he asked me about my work and said that Yale would be a good fit for me, because of my diverse background. He also fed me tea and biscuits which I thought was nice! Let's see how it goes!

it would be nice to hear before april 3. Though that adds it's own set of worries since I doubt they will be letting the dings know before then. So it could add quite a bit of anxiety if they started telling individuals they are in early on..

I know R1 this year was different, but last year some people were told of their acceptances during the round with the majority being told on decision day. All dings were given on decision day. From what I understand, R2 this year might be more like last year. But, as SOM says, it's a possibility but nothing is guaranteed.
