Anyone going to the Admitted Student Reception in NY on Thursday? I'll be there and would love to put a face to a name, if anyone else is going. Let me know, I don't want to miss the chance to meet you in person!

To all R2 waitlisted candidates - are you having trouble accessing the accepted.com waitlist chat transcript as well? Thanks.

Wow! Even before the info packet arrives?! What's the rush?

Peace of mind, I guess.

haha, I'm gonna pay also, but just leaving the money in to get more interest... (gotta switch back to college saving mode. That's 5 dollars of interest you can be getting!

I paid from my checking account, which doesn't pay any interest, unfortunately. College saving mode, eh? Back to eating Ramen. Meh. I mean, bleh.

Is it just me, or does the Ross Google Group seem too sterile? Maybe people are wanting to make good first impressions by not putting anything on the line (because it's not anonymous). I'm certainly not contributing a whole lot there b/c I fear being judged.

Definitely not just you. I like posting here a lot better. Hopefully once we get to campus we'll all stop trying so hard to impress each other! I'm also not really interested in people repeating their admissions essays for an introduction - I'd rather actually get to know you, thanks!

I'm just waiting for the meet tomorrow for the LA fokes.

I'm planning to ask around to see who wants to share a moving truck with me to ann arbor.

I think I was one of the only ones who didn't say what I did in my intro-I thought that was what the spreadsheet was for. So the first 100 person thread looks like investment banker, consultant, leper based non-profit, I went to debate camp at Michigan in 1994, y'all! (me), banker, consultant, limbless cat non-profit...

I like some of the threads the R2 admits started like "who's with me on not running" and "dancers unite" and such. But yeah, I'm definitely self-censoring and I'm likely to do so for the rest of business school, actually. I mean, things like "limbless cat non-profit" crack me up but I worry about hurting other people's feelings. I'm just kind of a glib person.

GoBruins, I'm debating over whether to ship my stuff or sell it right now. I don't have anything particularly nice or of value (bought my furniture when I was clerking). I may be up for it depending on what you get as a quote-my concern is that I'll probably be moving in at the very end of August, right before RLI-my parents said they'd come out with me to supervise people, so it's a matter of deciding whether I want to buy all new IKEA furniture and set it up on weekends or have my parents supervise people moving my old stuff in to the apartment. I don't know what's cheaper as of yet.

For you California kids - I moved from Oakland to Chicago a couple of years ago and put all my belongings on Amtrak. It cost about $100 to ship everything I own. Highly recommended.

It seems fairly expensive to move cross country, however I don't think my gf can live without her stuff as much as I can. and to be fair I think I still need to ship some stuff, I can't fit it all in 1 car either way. I'm leaving most of my furniture and stuff at home. I don't have a couch I have a giant bean bag, which is really nice, EXCEPT once it gets in a room, it's never coming out... It's amazing how it can fill every doorway perfectly as to become immovable.

The concept of the "sterile" google group is funny. I haven't contributed much either, but I'm sure after GBR, possibly an Mtrek, and QSW people will let their gaurds down a little. The class looks like it is very diverse relative to WE and geographical area so I'm sure we'll have an interesting group. Also, as peolpe conversate over a few beverages at these meet ups, I think people will begin to let their hair down. Unfortunately, I can't make it to one, but GBR isn't too far out.

I bet some people are holding back because they are undecided about where they will be going to school and are currently considering at least one other choice...

I think if you pack a pallet it's even cheaper, but I just boxed up my belongings, labeled them clearly, and brought them to the Amtrak station in Emeryville (looks like you can go from LA to Ann Arbor, but I would call the number posted for specific arrangements). I pulled my car around and unloaded it, they weighed everything, and I picked it all up in Chicago a week or so later. It was cheap and totally painless.

Hey that works for me. Amtrak does not ship to the state of Michigan (don't know why) but they do ship to toledo ohio, which isn't that bad of a drive from ann arbor :D.

67 dollars for the first 100 lbs
57 dollars for the second 100lbs.

I think that will work for me, I'll just use boxes and suitcases that fit in my car :D

Nice! It's a little-known service, I think, but it's totally great. Enjoy!

Unless I seriously missed something, I didn't have to do a background check and I'm enrolled. The only thing they wanted from me was for every school I've attended (including extension schools) to send official transcripts to Ross directly. I haven't been contacted for anything from Kroll as of yet and it certainly wasn't in my acceptance package.

Hello anu 1979, where did you find the requirement that for every school you've attended, the official transcripts need to be sent to Ross directly? I got some spare copies of the official undergraduate transcript, so I just wonder if I can mail this to Ross or need to contact my undergraduate school again with regard to the official transcripts. Many thanks!
