i agree with bsd's point.
what i'm confident of: (i) the waitlisted pool is sufficiently large, (ii) LBS' yield is high (iii) the large majority of us will wait many months before getting a "closure" and (iv) our chances are on the low side.
therefore, my tip would be to set our expectations well, realize that our applications and profiles are competitive in this fierce weird MBA industry, and seriously and realistically move on and consider other options.

Frontline, I definitely agree with you. After reading all the post in the last years, I lowered my chance to still be admitted at LBS at 1%, thus I will move on with my life - accept the offer of another school. For me there's no option to be deferred to a next year admission, as my age is higher than the average.

am i correct in saying that everyone who got waitlisted got interviewed already? meaning, there are no waitlists without interviews? that'll narrow down the pool a little bit, i tihnk.

not sure how it helps, but i highly doubt any pre-interview place on the waitlist is ever granted.

other tips and strategies you know of, please share. thanks all, you guys make this waitlist period so much easier. if nothing else, it's nice to know we all commiserate with each other.

i'm adopting a passive wait-and-see approach; i won't be sending any additional recommendation/letter (at least for now).

Good for you, a11c99, my age is also on the high side but unfortunately I did not hedge my apps this year.

Indeed, the chance of converting from a waitlister to an admit seems more and more slim and it is too late in the game to apply for other schools. Moving on.

I have to choose between Oxford (no scholarship/no bank financing agreement via school) and Cranfield (some scholarship/very good agreement with HSBC) .... probably will go to Oxford, although I will have to make an extension of my mortgage-backed house loan :( ...

:) I think there are some good chances to get an admit at IE (rolling admit, Nov'10 or April'11), INSEAD Jan'11 or Vlerick, if you consider European MBAs.

it is definitely with some regret (i am really being sincere here) that i will shortly withdraw my admittance to LBS.

i wish i could allocate my spot to many of the more than qualified waitlisters here on gmatclub.

good luck to every one of you.

cheers.

9 more days to waitlist review!

My money is that no more than 3 people at GMATclub get off the waitlist

Add me to the waitlist as well R2. I've been posting on the LBS 2010 thread.

bsd_lover or anyone else: any ideas on how the waitlist affect chances of receiving scholarships? As I understand, LBS offer scholarships to admitted candidates without the need for a separate application.

So would being waitlisted significantly reduce our chances?

Re: LBS 2010 Waitlist Thread [#permalink]
My view is that most scholarships at any buss schools are awarded on certain dates or on first-come first-served basis, thus most are gone after R1 and R2. Considering the experience of bsd_lover from previous year, I think we will not have a clear decision (admit/ding) until the very last days before the start of the year, so all the scholarships will be gone at that moment ....
Perhaps someone who is now at LBS could tell us if any scholarship was awarded after R2 in 2009.
