Another nice tid bit from the chat:
Quote:
AssocDirAdmissions to singerm:
If you are not invited for an interview either last friday or this friday, you will receive notification regarding the status of your application probably early next week

So I take it that means there will be no confusion about emails on Friday

I think if you get an email from wharton on this Friday, it would be an invitation.

Imagine how much it would SUCK for someone to receive an email from Wharton on Friday, only to find a rejection email. That's too brutal.

Hmm, that's interesting. I thought we would either receive invite to interview or rejection on Friday. Well, if we don't get an invite on Friday, that has to imply rejection.

They said invites will be sent by 5pm so if you don't hear by then, then time to start thinking about the other schools. :o

Thx ThomasD! +1 for lifting my spirits on a dreary, lonely night that I'm spending by myself in a hotel in the middle of nowhere. I thought it was only a formality before I received my ding from Wharton.

His quote doesn't necessarily indicate that if you don't get an invite on Friday it's an automatic rejection? Either way you read it, it's conflicts with the email message you received when you first applied, which is:

- You will hear back either Oct 29th or Nov 5th
- Everyone who is rejected will hear back Nov 5th

The AssocDir said that all invites will be released by 5pm on the 5th.

So is the percentage of invites been 30% in past years?

If I remember correctly, Wharton used to invite 50% of applicants for interviews with 30% getting acceptances (thus, ~15% acceptance rate). Since JJ took over (last year), Wharton invited 30% of applicants for interviews and accepted 50% (~15% acceptance rate). I personally like the current % interview/acceptance better.

Last year was a bit weird, however; I was told by a current 2nd year who knows JJ pretty well that over 100+ seats last year were reserved for admitted-deferred students from the year before (2009) because Wharton had a higher-than-expected matriculation two years ago. Hopefully, we're not dealing with fewer slots this year.

During the online chats, they mentioned around 40% are invited to interview. Two more days to go!

Like schools care about rejects' emotions... Everybody knows life is tough so expect honesty from the school.

I think its even more brutal to keep applicants in the dark. I'd rather they send out the dings at the same time, which based on the original email they sent should be the case, so potential rejects like myself aren't left wondering what their fate is!

Does Wharton send rejection emails or will you see a mail in your mailbox? Just received an email from UPS about a letter with nov 5th delivery date. I am not expecting any other letter from anywhere - so wondering!!!!!

So has it been confirmed that it will be definitely be 5 PM tomorrow? If so, is it exactly at 5 PM or sometime before 5 PM?

Wouldn't it be at 4:05 pm, if last Friday's pattern holds? In any case, another sleepless night...

Um, Things That Can't Be Confirmed?! Things No One Here Knows?! Things That Will Lead to Wild Speculation?!

Did I get it right?
