There is no particular order in which interview invitations are released. Release dates depend upon multiple factors, including our recruiting schedule.

I was just thinking back to what agathea said in an earlier post - I imagine that they must sort the applications in some way then go through them. In that sense, I would think that there is SOME sort of order to make sure that they don't end up wanting to interview a whole bunch of interviewees on the second day and realize they miscalculated.

uprightcitizen - thanks anyhow for your response. I guess I was spared the worry because I got the hbs one early. At least Wharton's invitations are on two separate days as opposed to every day for a week. I would also be really curious whether it' a 50/50 split between the two days or a lot more weighted towards the first day.

I know this is a difficult question to answer, but is anyone perplexed about not having received an invite today despite thinking they were competitive (and may have done well with other schools so far?) Trying to think about whether there really is a slight randomness to reading the applications/interviews going out, as Wharton says.

I thought I was competitive, received a Harvard invite first day, but no invite from Wharton. As per a prior post, I am dubious that there is no particular order to which they send invites.

I know I should just wait until next week...but that was never been so far away.

In answer to your question, yes. However, there is no reason for us to believe it is anything but random. I am hoping that we know what percent of the invites went out prior to Friday (maybe during the Tuesday admissions chat or a blog post).

And I'm in the same boat with you in receiving an HBS invite, but no Wharton. I do have to keep reminding myself that all of these schools are so ultra-competitive that an invite at one is far from an assurance that we'll receive one at another, even if it's HBS.

Very true, and its the same with me, hbs invite on first day but no wharton till now

, but if I end up with an invite only from hbs, the interview is going to be very scary for me which is not a good thing.
But pls don't forget its not over till its over, awaiting 5 nov with a positive mindset

For those of you who have lurked around the Wharton S2S forums, you would be familiar with Victor. Here is his latest response to a question about the interview invitations.

I really do not think the interview invites are random. It is the same with the application review process being "holistic".

Invites are most definitely random in order, and only depend on the length of review for a particular application. Length differs because the review process involves a bunch of people, who each operates on a different schedule, and the approach to candidacy evaluation is most definitely holistic, i.e. all-encompassing: no single component of the application is decisive, but all of them together are.

It seems they want it both ways. The email I received says "The Admissions Committee will release interview invitations on Friday, October 29th and again on Friday, November 5th" but their blog says "Friday November 5th* *all applicants will receive an invitation to interview or a deny without an interview decision by this date."

I'm inclined to trust the latter, since the blog was posted later and that's what Victor referenced.

noooooooo idea...wouldn't mind it long term however I do not want to work in the industry straight after MBA. From what i have seen, career progression in the energy industry (super majors particularly) is a little sluggish at the entry level. ...looking at consulting post MBA and wherever it takes me from there!
