Hi everyone. I received my invitation at 4:05pm. I am a reapplicant who was also invited to interview last year and was then dinged (no waitlist). I submitted my app at exactly 3:53 pm on the deadline date (Oct 4) and I work in Healthcare - so it's not going according to industry, date of submission or reapplicant status - just whenever they get around to reading the app. hope that makes everyone feel a little more at ease though speculating is natural since i would've been doing the same. good luck!!

Did you interview on campus last year or with Alum... I am trying to get some info of where I should schedule my interview

I really do not think the interview invites are random. It is the same with the application review process being "holistic". Of course they look for certain leadership characteristics. Give me a break with the "holistic" cliche.

It would sure help my peace of mind to think that it is random. But when you have between 6,000 and 10,000 applications (hopefully less this year) the admission committee has to organize, categorize and review them in some form, shape or fashion. Still, I am not going to be speculating on various hypothesis. Calmly waiting for next Friday! Good luck everyone!

Experts say that interview invites are directly correlated to the number of GMAT Club posts. In previous years, ad-coms have spent endless hours trying to compile lists of interview worthy candidates. However, this year we made their lives easier and handed them a list of prospective invitees by keeping the "Win a B-school trip by posting on GMAT club 24/7" competition.

I haven't received an interview invite. Maybe, because I'm not a huge Rocky fan.

I got an invite at 4:05pm also. I submitted in mid-September.

Male / 28 / 750 / lower GPA than most on the spreadsheet from a top 25 U.S. school

Hope this keeps the hope alive for next week.

Well... I live right by Philly and still own a house a few blocks from Wharton... not sure what my excuse is for not getting an invite. : )

I am going to be thoroughly perplexed if HBS is the only school I got an interview invite from, which looks possible.

Hey guys,

I got an invite. I'm F/750/3.63/NYC and currently working as a designer (v non-traditional).

I didn't get an invite from HBS and I was terribly bummed. By the looks of it, I prolly won't get one. I was whining to my mom about this issue when it happened and she told me to go out and get drunk and party. I followed her advice for about two weeks and it worked.

Now I'm not promoting binge drinking here, but I will say the best possible remedy for this is to just forget about it. Something will happen. Plus its halloween weekend, go out and have a good time.

I interviewed with an alum last year. Didn't like her really - i met her at her office building and she was late from a meeting and rushed everything a bit. didnt get a good vibe from her. but honestly i think there were many things that could've been improved in my app in general and i worked hard to tie all loose ends this round. this time i am going to interview on campus. for me i believe it would be better - a 30 minute cut and dry interview and noone seeing u in between business meetings and all flustered. many ppl have great alum interviews tho - mine just wasn't.

I know this is a difficult question to answer, but is anyone perplexed about not having received an invite today despite thinking they were competitive (and may have done well with other schools so far?) Trying to think about whether there really is a slight randomness to reading the applications/interviews going out, as Wharton says.

I thought I was competitive, received a Harvard invite first day, but no invite from Wharton. As per a prior post, I am dubious that there is no particular order to which they send invites.

I know I should just wait until next week...but that was never been so far away.

In answer to your question, yes. However, there is no reason for us to believe it is anything but random. I am hoping that we know what percent of the invites went out prior to Friday (maybe during the Tuesday admissions chat or a blog post).

And I'm in the same boat with you in receiving an HBS invite, but no Wharton. I do have to keep reminding myself that all of these schools are so ultra-competitive that an invite at one is far from an assurance that we'll receive one at another, even if it's HBS.
