This is good stuff! Will definitely give me a boost for my prep! And you really think the real gmat test was easier than the OG questions? hmm...

how do u rate princeton cat's ? I know the quant is hardly a challenge, but is the verbal good ? I think it has OG model questions and the scoring in gmat prep like.

So the GMAT would be the easiest for the Fonz right? Since he's the coolest? :D

Hi,

Congratulations on the fantastic score. Can you please let us know what was the duration of your preparation? I know everyone's aptitude varies, and the prep time for everyone would accordingly vary, however, would be good to get your perspective on your preparation.

Thanks!!

Princeton was OK. Not quite close to the real GMAT but still made up for a decent practice. Their quant sucked - no challenge at all. Verbal was pretty decent though.

If you have run out of better tests such as MGMAT, then you can consider taking princeton tests.

Yeah, sure. I booked the GMAT appointment slightly less than 2 months in advance.

Personal opinion---

Although I had read up ManhattanSC and Verbal Review book prior to booking my GMAT appointment, I realized later that any preparation before booking the appointment is counterproductive. It doesn't help. You cannot achieve the same amount of focus over any material as you can when you are disciplined. Booking an appointment disciplines your preparation to some extent. 2 months are more than enough. Anything more than that "could" be counterproductive.

My good friend gave me great advice that I found valuable - "You have to peak at the right time". I was consistently scoring around 710 mark right up until 2 weeks before the exam. I was seriously considering postponing my appointment before I started hitting ~750 consistently (750 & 770 in my last 2 MGMAT mocks). After that I got 760+ in all the 4 GMATPrep (v1+v2) mock tests.

The deal that GMAT is a lot more about focus than aptitude. I feel that if you prolong the preparation, you lose focus after some point because the preparation could become mechanical, inane and disinteresting. You will notice that you start making silly stupid mistakes that you thought you had left behind.

So you have to time it so that you do not lose interest in solving GMAT problems by the time you get to the GMAT appointment.

There is a thin line. I found at least some of the OG and GMATPrep problems really tricky and ambiguous. But the good news is that in the GMAT, even if you are scoring @750 you will get only 1-2 of them (you might get more of them if you are scoring at 780 lets say). But yeah, by and large I found the real GMAT a little easier than GMAT Prep tests. I was worried in my sectional break that I had screwed up quant because I felt it was only throwing really stupid questions at me.
