This is a very critical phase.

What you should do is:

Keep retaking GMATPrep again and again, at the same time as your test.
Dont strain yourself too much.
Use the GMATPrep Docs on this forum. VERY IMPORTANT! You will get about 200 SCs and 150 RCs. Solve them and look up their explanations on MGMAT Forums - read expert replies!
For this part stay away from any non standard material whatsoever!
and
Try to relax the day before the test so you come back with full enthusiasm!

All the best!

Re: Last 2 weeks - WHAT SHOULD I DO TO RAISE SCORE? [#permalink]
akhilesh do you recommend I buy the entire gmatclub tests? Would it be worth it to buy them all for a 2 week period when I still have more than 50% of OG 10 left?

also, I still have the entire RC section left from the official verbal supplement book. I'm doubtful as to whether spending $100 or Rs 5000 is worth it for 2 weeks when there's other material left. Thoughts?

I think in the last week you should stick to official material only.
Retake GMATPreps
Use the GMATPrep Document and read the explanation to every single question on MGMAT Forums. That itself will take a hell lot of time - provided you do it correctly.
Finish off all the official material you have left
and don't stress too much, don't burn yourself out at the last moment.
To get the best returns from gmatclub tests I think you would need to solve atleast 10 of them, which you don't have time for.
So instead of cramming new stuff at the last moment. Try to assimilate what you already know.
If necessary solve the last 50 questions of every official text book you have.

And revise!!

Will do. Also, what did you mean by "Use the GMATPrep Document and read the explanation to every single question on MGMAT Forums. That itself will take a hell lot of time - provided you do it correctly."

What doc were you referring to?

GMATclub forums have documents compiling the various SC, CR and RC questions which have appeared in GMATPrep tests! Hundreds of questions.

Once you have exhausted the official guides, it is always suggested to work through these files. Search for them on the forum and you will know what I mean.

Just be sure to look up the explanation to each and every question on the MGMAT Forum!

From participating around gmatclub, I've seen many people taking CATs after CATs 2 weeks prior to their test. I also have seen other people practice the last 50 questions or so in OG Review. So do a combination of both and you will be better than ever!

I have been preparing for GMAT for last 7 months with my day job, and I seem to have been stuck at 640.
I have prepared using eGMAT(quant + verbal) and Jamboree questions for QUANTS.

Quant max score has been 45
Verbal max has been 35

GMAT exam date Aug 1, 2018
GMAT target score 720+

I was wondering if you can advise me from your experience, what should be my strategy for 15 days I have?
I am a bit lost whether I should attempt
    more mocks
or focus on my weaker areas?

PS :
CAT EXAM #6 Completed 07/08/2018 Score: 640
CAT EXAM #5 Completed 06/23/2018 Score: 620
CAT EXAM #4 Completed 06/02/2018 Score: 640
CAT EXAM #3 Completed 04/08/2018 Score: 630
CAT EXAM #2 Completed 03/25/2018 Score: 620
CAT EXAM #1 (FREE) Completed 01/27/2018 Score: 570

Hi aru010,

To start, you might want to start your own unique post-thread (instead of piggy-backing onto an old thread that hasn't had a new post in almost 7 years).

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, your last 4 CAT score results (over the last 4 months) show that you essentially performed the same each time (about 630 +/- a few points). Raising a 630 to a 720+ will likely require at least another 2 months of consistent, guided study, so you might want to consider pushing back your Test Date. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level - you just might need more time than you have currently allotted.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
2) Did you take the FULL CAT each time (with the Essay and IR sections)?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi aru010,

I’m glad you reached out and I’m happy to help. While there are no guarantees that you can obtain the improvement you need in just two weeks, I can provide some concrete steps for you to take to begin improving your GMAT quant and verbal scores.

Based on the information you provided, you currently have very solid quant and verbal scores. However, to increase your quant and verbal scores to higher levels, you have to go through GMAT quant and verbal carefully to find your exact weaknesses, fill gaps in your knowledge, and strengthen your skills. The overall process will be to find weaker areas, learn all about how to answer questions of types that you aren't that comfortable with now, and do dozens of practice questions category by category, basically driving your score up point by point.

For example, if you were to find that you are not strong in answering Number Properties questions, you would carefully review the conceptual underpinnings of how to answer Number Properties questions and practice by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc. As you do such practice, do a thorough analysis of each question that you don't get right. If you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why you got it wrong. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question? By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to efficiently fix your weaknesses and in turn improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant
topics.

Each time you strengthen your understanding of a topic and your skill in answering questions of a particular type, you increase your odds of hitting your score goal. You know that there are types of questions that you are happy to see and types that you would rather not see and that there are types questions that take you a long time to answer correctly. Learn to more effectively answer the types of questions that you would rather not see, and make them into your favorite types. Learn to correctly answer in two minutes or less questions that currently take you five minutes to answer. By finding, say, a dozen weaker quant areas and turning them into strong areas, you will make great progress toward hitting your quant score goal. If a dozen areas turn out not to be enough, make some more areas stronger.

You can work on verbal in a similar manner. Let’s say you are reviewing Critical Reasoning. Be sure that you practice a large number of Critical Reasoning questions: strengthen and weaken the argument, resolve the paradox, find the conclusion, must be true, etc.

As you go through the questions, do a thorough analysis of each question that you don't get correct. If you missed a Weaken question, ask yourself why you didn't get it right.
Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not recognize what the question was asking? Did you skip over a key detail in an answer choice? Getting GMAT verbal questions right is a matter of what you know, what you see, and what you do. So, any time that you don't get one right, you can seek to identify what, if anything, you would have needed to know in order to get the right answer, what you had to see that you didn't see, and what you could have done differently to arrive at the correct answer.

When you do dozens of questions of the same type one after the other, you learn just what it takes to get questions of that type correct consistently. If you aren't getting close to 90 percent of the questions of a certain type correct, go back and seek to better understand how that type of question works, and then do more questions of that type until you get to at least around 90 percent accuracy in your training. If you get 100 percent of some sets correct, even better.

So, work on accuracy and generally finding correct answers, work on specific weaker areas one by one to make them strong areas, and, when you take a practice GMAT or the real thing, take all the time per question available to do your absolute best to get right answers consistently.

The GMAT is essentially a game of seeing how many right answers you can get in the time allotted. Approach the test with that conception in mind, and focus intently on the question in front of you with one goal in mind: getting a CORRECT answer.

In order to follow the path described above, you may need some new verbal and quant materials, so take a look at the GMAT Club reviews for the best quant and verbal courses.

You also may find it helpful to read my article for more information regarding
how to score a 700+ on the GMAT.
