I agree with the author that video camera provides an accurate and convincing record of contemporary life that it became more important form of documentation than written records. In today's world, Organizations are looking for people that have practical knowledge rather than people only having conceptual knowledge that is the knowledge procured from books.
Video camera is a very essential tool in various sectors such as education sectors, wildlife sectors, medical sectors, industrial sectors and so on. Video camera can be used as a documentation tool as the information observed and obtained from live feed helps to explain and understand more deeply. But every device or a manmade thing has its advantages and disadvantages. So, it is the responsibility of the person using the camera to good use within certain limitations.
The first example is the use of video camera in education sectors. Nowadays, children/students mostly prefer video lectures as they can understand the concepts more clearly and in detail. Children/students will be able to raise doubts related to the topic by understanding the concepts. Video form of documentation is the type of data collection method that cannot be destroyed and can be re watched / resumed anytime. With video camera teachers can record their teaching and lectures. This can be used as a documentation tool that will be beneficial for the children/students to obtain and understand necessary information. The children/students can replay and again watch the video infinite number of times till they understand their concepts. By opting this method, the information and concepts permanently remain in the childrens/students mind and will be helpful for the children/students to score good grades in their examinations.
The second example is the use of video camera in the wildlife sector where the person has to document wildlife creatures. In wildlife sector evidence plays a very important role. If the person does not have proper evidence then their observation is considered bogus and will lose its credibility. By having video camera the person can document the rare wildlife species and can be used as the form of an evidence to prove its credibility. This helps the person as well as other people in that sector to understand more about the way of living, their nature, their death more clearly and accuratley which benifits the people in the sector to make accurate assumptions regarding the particular species.
Thirdly, the use of Video camera in industrial sectors. In industrial sector a photography method called Chronography method is widely used. In this method the head operator uses a motion camera. An intermittent light is attached to the operators legs or hand that are going to used while performing a task. The operator gives the worker a particular task and the motion camera captures or records the motions involved while performing a particular task. Chronography method is considered as an accurate tool to measure the time required by the worker to complete a particular task. The video is used as a documentation to refer what different motions were involved in performing the task and can be used as a reference for other new workers to understand the manufacturing method of that particular task. Therefore , Video camera is used a documentation form in industrial sector as it is considered as an essential tool for determining the labour cost in a manufacturing industry.
In concluson, I agree that video camera provides accurate and convincing record of contemporary life that can act as a more credible documentation form as compared to written records.
ARGUMENT ESSAY
Q-The following appeared in a health magazine published in Corpora.
“Medical experts say that only one-quarter of Corpora’s citizens meet the current standards for adequate physical fitness, even though twenty years ago, one-half of all of Corpora’s citizens met the standards as then defined. But these experts are mistaken when they suggest that spending too much time using computers has caused a decline in fitness. Since overall fitness levels are highest in regions of Corpora where levels of computer ownership are also highest, it is clear that using computers has not made citizens less physically fit. Instead, as shown by this year’s unusually low expenditures on fitness-related products and services, the recent decline in the economy is most likely the cause, and fitness levels will improve when the economy does.”
Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. Be sure to explain how the argument depends on these assumptions and what the implications are for the argument if the assumptions prove unwarranted.
In the health magazine published in Corpora , It is stated by Medical experts that only one-quater of Corpora's citizen meet the standards for adequate physical fitness where it was mistaken that it was due to spending more time in computers where fitness level is highest in the regions where computer ownership is high.
It was further concluded that due to the low expenditure on fitness related product led to the decline in the fitness levels in economy. Before, evaluating the arguments three questions must be answered.
Firstly, Is the outlook of the people twenty years ago and todays generation people same? It may be possible that the thinking or the outlook of the people may change. The people of todays generation may not have interest in physical fitness due to consumption of street food. Therefore, this assumption is rifled with holes as it does not satisfies the argument.
Secondly, Experts are thinking that all citizen living in Corpora have good salary jobs. There are different types of jobs in Corpora and salary is different for each job. Some job may provide good salary and some may dont. The author should include what are the occupation or job of these one-quater of the Corpora's citizens. As physical fitness equipments are expensive it may not be affoardable for all people. Therefore, this assumption does not hold water.
Thirdly, How was the data collection carried out and by which method? The author states that medical experts claims that decline in fitness is due to spending too much time in computers but later it was suggested that it was due to less investment on physical expenditure. It was not mentioned by the author on how the data was obtained. There can be possibility that the medical experts obtained or procured data through the analysis of attendance records of different fitness centers. It maybe also possible that some people goes to these fitness center twice or thrice a week, the person may not be present during the data collection period. So,The conclusion drawn form the argument is significantly weakened.
In conclusion, The argument is considerebly flawed due to its reliance on unwarrented assumptions. If the author answers the above questions and provide more or precise evidence through systematic study it would be possible to evaluation the reason for the decline in physical fitness in Corpora.
