We want this forum well organized and helpful for the members - please help us with this goal by following a few simple rules: Rules for AWA forum First of all, search the prompt or essay topic in the forum, the chances are high that the same prompt is already being discussed in the forum. If so, you can read and compare your essay with the essays of other members on the same topic. Post your essay for evaluation in reply to the already posted topic. If your particular prompt/essay has not been discussed on the forum you can post it in the new topic with the first line of the prompt/essay as the subject of the topic. Examples of prompt/essay topics: Example 1 The following appeared in a memorandum from the business department of the Apogee Company: “When the Apogee Company had all its operations in one location, it was more profitable than it is today. Therefore, the Apogee Company should close down its field offices and conduct all its operations from a single location. Such centralization would improve profitability by cutting costs and helping the company maintain better supervision of all employees.” Discuss how well reasoned . . . etc. Example 2 The following appeared in a memorandum issued by a large city’s council on the arts: “In a recent citywide poll, 15 percent more residents said that they watch television programs about the visual arts than was the case in a poll conducted five years ago. During these past five years, the number of people visiting our city’s art museums has increased by a similar percentage. Since the corporate funding that supports public television, where most of the visual arts programs appear, is now being threatened with severe cuts, we can expect that attendance at our city’s art museums will also start to decrease. Thus some of the city’s funds for supporting the arts should be reallocated to public television.” Discuss how well reasoned . . . etc. Below are examples of how you can name the topic. If you want to discuss example 1 above and the topic is not posted on the forum already you can post it in the new topic and the subject of the topic would be: When the Apogee Company had all its operations in one location, it was more profitable than The subject of the topic of example 2 above would be: In a recent citywide poll, 15 percent more residents said that they watch television programs about Do not post your same essay twice, the essay will be deleted otherwise. Tag your new topics accordingly. If you want your essay evaluated by the experts you can tag it as: “AWA Evaluation Request” If you have a general question about the GMAT AWA section you can tag your topic as: “AWA General Questions” If want to share some knowledge or strategies to tackle the AWA you can set the tag as: “AWA Strategies” If you want to share some resources or want to attach an additional file containing AWA resources you can tag your topic as: “AWA Resources” Do not spam the forum with useless posts.
