Anyone hear about waitlisted candidates getting interviewed yet?

Are people who have already been interviewed at an advantage or at a disadvantage? This is such a confusing process.

Adcom Staff (Becca Honohan) implied that WL with interview is a good sign. But with all things in this process, I try not to read into anything too much. Don't want to build up my expectations.

G'luck

I guess I am having a hard time understanding the "profiles" they are striving to fill. For example, if a minority male engineer turns them down, are they trying to find someone on the waitlist who is also a minority male engineer? Similarly, if a Caucasian female accountant turns them down, are they trying to find someone who has that background? Or is it done by career interest? International Student vs. U.S. citizen? Many of those things? I have a very atypical background so I don't think that I would fill any of the "holes" they are trying to fill.

Did you guys get an update? Someone I know on the waitlist got a call from Sloan checking whether they were still available to attend and that the committee is planning to review the list starting next week.

Interesting. Has your friend been following up quite a bit?

I'm not 100% sure. I know she had been waitlisted with an interview and I believe she sent in at least one additional recommendation.

They are probably trying to guage her interest and availability in attending to protect their yield. Would she definitely go?

Yes she would. Let's hope she hadn't made that clear in her previous updates and that is why they were calling!

I am not aware of any resources that provide that information.

edit: ^while the information is still coming in, anyway. I guess the GMAT club stats would be the best indicator.

Still no movement on the waitlist? I thought that today was supposed to be the big day. Crickets. I guess AppAdventure's friend said this week in general though. sigh!

I spoke to admissions at the end of the week of May 5 and was told it's probably going to be another 2-3 weeks. So according to that we might expect movement at the end of this week at the earliest, probably more likely the end of next week. Stay sane, everyone!

Are you still considering MIT? It says you are matriculating at Yale. Curious as to your decision to attend Yale over Booth.

Yeah, still considering MIT but as of now matriculating at Yale. I'm going Yale over Booth because I want to do social impact/international development consulting and would rather be on the East Coast than the Midwest. I also like where Yale's program is going in general and got a better vibe from their students.
