What is the difference between A and B? (rather and but rather) Also, anything matters with the use of either ; or , ?

I would strongly recommend not post answers right away.Give a day or so for others to respond and then post the answer and the question.

Knowing answer right away makes you not think at all.

nah, its about parallelism. not + one thing, but + another thing

we need to connect the two clauses by a subordinating conjunction. "but" is a subordinating conjunction and functions to connect the two clauses together.

please read the lessons on parallelism in the verbal lessons forum.

A is wrong because the semicolon can be use to connect only independent clauses. it is not so in A. clause starting with A is dependent clause.
