My name is Brad and LBS is my top choice, followed by two US schools. I hope all my fellow 2011 LBS applicants can share their application progress on this thread much like the 2010 LBS thread. I actually attended an MBA fair last fall and spoke with the LBS staff and got the ball rolling then. Over the past 6 months or so it has become apparent that LBS fits what I am hoping to get from an MBA and I'm focusing my efforts accordingly. I checked today and it looks like they've put up the essay questions. I'm on vacation for the next month, so it will give me time to draft a couple first drafts. I've already read a couple MBA Admissions books and have a spreadsheet filled with my brainstorming for the general topics that appear on the essays. I'm still not sure whether I will use a consultant to review my essays or whether I will go the friends, family and colleagues route. Beside the obvious cost of a consultant I feel that drafting and editing myself is almost a matter of pride, ...or maybe hubris. Anyone have any thoughts on this? You have to do much better on your GMAT than 630 if you want to get into a school like LBS, especially because you're an Indian male. That group is one of the most oversubscribed. Even 680 is likely not going to cut it, I'd try to get it beyond 700 if I were you and apply to some schools in the 2nd Round. Just an honest opinion.

thanks cwhs I appreciate your opinion. But, does my being a doctor and representing the University of Mauritius set me apart from the stereotypical Indian Male? Well, 630 (Q45, V31, AWA 5.5) on the GMAT was on my second attempt. I scored a 640 (Q44, V34, AWA 3.5) on the first attempt..

@sugam I am a reapp. In the deny mail LBS clearly mentioned that having a gmat score below school's avg will make the process bit more competitive. so with 630, other attributes of ur app must be extremely good.

The only reason I haven't gone completely insane with the wait is by forcing myself to forget that I applied for Round 1, including avoiding this forum for the past few weeks. Another week to go!

I think your background is unique, but you have to also remember that you may be up against someone from IIT with 760 GMAT 3.9 GPA and who worked at a large multinational for the past 3-4 years. Your competition is fierce on paper. I hope you prove me wrong! Good luck!

hi sugam very interesting profile - however the GMAT averages seem to keep going up every year (701 was the average for class of 2012). If I were you, I'd take it again and get it up to at least 680.

Well, God willing, I hope I get an interview invite atleast. If not, I don't think I'll be reapplying for the time being. Would rather specialize in medicine. I did paint a picture about the changing Mauritian economy and my interests in the African Pharmaceutical market. Hope it makes an impression. Anyway, thanks for your opinion guys! Good luck!
