LBS is playing a cruel game, their invite email comes across as a ding at first sight. The email subject is ominously worded "London Business School Decision", which has all the hallmarks of a royal ding. The first paragraph doesn't help either.."Thank you for applying..blah blah blah".
I was expecting the second paragraph to start as "I regret to inform you", however it read "I am delighted to inform you".
Rejection. I feel sick. The good news is I'm pretty sure I'll get another school's rejection tomorrow so the misery will be spread around.

bpenn: So sorry to hear it! I recall that you and I are in similar situations re: moving to the UK with family. I trust you're applying to some other UK schools?
How do they encourage rejects to reapply? Is there something mentioned in the ding email?

Quote from my ding:
Should I reapply?
This is a decision for you, but you should know that we do specifically invite those candidates we actively wish to reapply when they receive their decision e-mail. You should also note that competition for places is tough each year.
After this they mention that I may want to look into their 3 week Emerging Leaders Program. I'm not sure if that program was actually tailored to me, but they did not mention encouraging me to reapply to the MBA.
Its tough not to feel bitter, but I'm working on it. LBS was my first choice and is the first school to give me a decision, so no prior rejections to warm me up. The reality is that I may get dinged from all my schools, but getting dinged from your top choice holds a special place. Time to pile in some Round 2 applications

No other UK schools. My wife is British via India/Hong Kong so the plan was never to live in the UK, but transition back to Asia.
Did you apply for Round 1? Best of luck if you got an interview
Got dinged today...not really surprised by it, and LBS was my #2 choice anyhow. At least I have my INSEAD interviews under my belt. Will start working on later R1 and R2 then!
Haha I got the emerging leadership program BS too.. theyre trying to market the money making programs to us rejects.. lol

That is exactly what I thought. "You're not good enough for our MBA, but that's not to say you can't spend your dollars with us". Little do they know my dollars are rapidly becoming worth less, haha QE2+...
Dinged. First one of the season. Couldn't understand why, as I was thinking that my profile was best suitable for LBS. Anyways, an interview invite from my top choice school will help in soothing me [:P]. Cheers.
Seems like there are a lot of LBS invites on GMAT club, it seems quite a large percentage of invites went out...
If I interpreted the email properly all we have to do now is wait for an interview to be scheduled right? or do we actually have to contact the regional coordinator?? it says "be patient, it could take up to two weeks" so do we really just wait?

Staind, sorry to hear and best of luck in your other apps!
So, last year I was interviewed, but ulitmately got rejected. In the final decision email they noted that they hope I would re-apply in the future. The email noted that "Committee asks only a very small number of candidates to reapply in this way", so I'm trying again this year (got the interview invite yesterday) and hoping, but we'll see what happens...
Food for thought: I read somewhere that as a rough benchmark, LBS calls about 30% of all applicants for interviews and then accepts about 70% afterwards for final offers... About 85% will accept the offer or defer!
