Ratio is approx 2:1 black to white paint.

350 black/2 = 175 but the real ratio is a little bit more than 2, so the answer will be less than 175, hence A.

This question tests your understanding of conversion factors...

350 lit black x (1 lit white/2.016 lit black) = 173.6

2.016 liters of black paint : 1 liter white paint

Lets say hypothetically we were given that 2 liters of black paint : 1 liter of white paint

350 black paint = 175 white paint

Now, we're increasing the amount of black paint to white paint. Therefore, the amount of white paint decreases.

Only 173.6 is less than 175. Answer is A.

We can create the following proportion:

2.016/1 = 350/n

2.016n = 350

n = 350/2.016

Since 350/2 = 175, and since 2.016 is slightly larger than 2, we see that the correct answer must be slightly smaller than 175, so the correct answer is 173.6.
