True, you may not need a 700 GMAT to get into the program. But keep in mind that there are only a total of 80-100 actual open spots for the Macc/MBT program. (they may admit a slightly higher number considering students who are admitted into the program but decide to attend a different school). And in my opinion, unless you have a great interview or a high GPA you probably won't get in with that score because of how competitive the program is.

Hey Superel,

Congrats on getting an interview! did they accept you on the spot? Would you mind sharing some the the ?'s that were asked? Also other people make it seem like once you get an interview you are pretty much accepted. Did you feel that way?

thanks in advance

P.S. I hope you are right about that GMAT thing Miami!

Re: USC MACC interview coming up--pretty scared [#permalink]
Sadly, my interview experience wasn't as pleasant as the others who posted on this thread...
She first asked me how I thought I'd do in the program and I responded by saying that I felt really confident in myself to do well. Thats when she brought out my transcript and pointed out my low GPA along with the fact that I only got B+'s in both my introductory financial/managerial accounting courses.

I still haven't found out whether I got in or not, but after that Interview I strongly feel that a minimum GPA/GMAT just won't cut it. You gotta really impress her if you wanna have a shot at getting in.

may I ask sth. more about MAcc at Ross Michigan
I applied for that and still hear nothing from the school, bad sign?
my GPA is ~3.8 and GMAT is 750
I don't think I do well in essay and for LOR, one of them should be quite good but another one is probably not a good one
could you guys please evaluate my chance?

superel, what is ur GPA and GMAT???? I'm surprised they made a big deal out of getting b's in your accounting classes. When i had my interview, my grades were never alked about even though i had a gpa below the average.

When I talked to the USC admissions officer last year, she said their cutoff score for the GMAT was 650. So, yeah, I think you do need a GMAT score of at least 650. And they accepted 38% out of about 400 applicants last year, if that helps you guys gauge their acceptance statistics. Plus their class is usually around 75-80 for MAcc and 40-50 for MBT. So they probably accept around 150 people.

Re: USC MACC interview coming up--pretty scared [#permalink]
I submitted my app close to end of Feb. Received an email 2 weeks later for an interview. well I interviewed with Cathy last friday. it was a short decent interview that pretty much when over my essay and goal, since I guess it was "unique". she also asked how accounting would help in my goal and went over my transcripts. I got an A in accounting and B in macroecon at a community college last semester. she didn't bring those grades up or my poor undergrad GPA. she only brought up an "F" i received last semester for an accounting internship at the community college. It was a mistake and was supposed to be an "I" for incomplete. other than that it lasted like 10 mins. she said she would talk and review my file with the "commitee." so i thought i just did bad and wasn't accepted since most of the peoples received "on the spot" acceptances and a nice tour. all i got was a handshake and bye.

Well checked online today and I got accepted. I know for a fact there is no real cut off for GMAT or GPA. trust me. My scores are way below the average and everyone that has posted on this thread. maybe it's because of my occupation and goals that i wrote in my essay? seeing other peoples stats, i feel dumb. lol  if i do accept, I hope everyone is pretty cool and not snobby, uptight, arrogant, backstabbing, and cocky.

are most of the applicants straight out of undergrad? I graduated 5 years ago and have some work experience. I just wasn't sure if everyone was mostly younger since work experience is not a requirement.

thanks and good luck

i think that is impossible for the cut off to be 650 if the average for macc is only 656 and the average for the MBT is below 650. The numbers don't add up.

I don't know. That's what she said. Maybe she was lying to me so that I'd shut up and stop asking them why I didn't get admitted.

Hi Miami415

I am an international student.....and here we donot have the GPA sys...the school had to determine that for me .As far as GMAT is concerned I have a pretty good score and also good experience.

Those of you who've had an interview pls share the interview questions.Do they ask about your goals in detail??? And do they ask in detail abt your experience??
