Hi, what is the source of this Q? its actually funny..

If you look at st-1, its not possible i think to have |x| < -|x| for any integer other than 0. So its actually sufficient.

st-2, if you take y = 3 and x = 2, then 3 > 2 > -3
if you take y = 5 and x = 4, then 5 > 4 > -5.
So you have multiple values of y. Not sufficient.

Answer is A.

Does any one has any other opinion on St-1?

This made me think a bit. Good question indeed.Please tag the source too.

a y >= |x| gives positive values for y
y <= -|x| gives negative values for y

hence there is no single value of y which satisfies the equation when you plot on a number line ,Other than x=y=0.
thus y = 0. Sufficient.

b -|y| <= x <= |y| gives

for y = 1, range for x is -1<=x <= 1
for y = 2, range for x is -2<=x <= 2 On number line.

hence many values satisfy the equation for x and y. not sufficient.

Hence A.
