Blingblong,
Based on the info you gave, even with a 720 GMAT you would not be competitive at HBS, Stanford, or Wharton. I don't see enough leadership, career 'wow,' or distinctive life experience, at least in what you described. You may have a chance at a Top 10 school, but I would need to know more about your profile. Feel free to send me your resume at

I took the GMAT recently and was pretty disappointed with a 620. I know I'm capable of getting into the 700's, but I want an evaluation of my overall profile before I go down that ominous road. What I want to know is if my profile is T3 worthy or T10 worthy. If not, my company will pay for me to go to University of MN Carlson, so there isn’t much point in busting my rear if I don’t achieve T3 or similar.
Credentials: CPA, CMA
Career: United HealthCare, 3yrs matriculation in finance as an accountant. Was there during healthcare reform and all that good stuff.
I also worked as an accountant in a nonprofit sponsored by United HealthCare for 1 year. I was the sole accountant for this nonprofit for 4 months while the head accountant was on leave.
College: 3.41 GPA, 3.67 Accounting classes from a private Catholic college in MN.
I was also a music major in college. I played solo and group performances at weddings and led ensembles.
In college, started a company of sorts where I taught guitar lessons in people’s homes, reaching 18 clients at its peak. I can get many letters of recommendation to back this up.
Extracurricular Activities: Volunteer tax preparer for the last 3 years for a local nonprofit. Marathon runner.
Any advice is appreciated. If someone could evaluate my profile and say that the only thing lacking is a GMAT score for T3 or similar, that would be fantastic. If my profile isn’t of that quality, I’ll just up my score modestly to get into the Carlson part time program.
