happy monday everyone, got an interview invite!

Does anyone know whether it's risky fly to detroit to interview on campus (in terms of weather delays etc?) mid february timeframe.

I'd like to interview on campus, but don't want to miss it because of delays etc.

I would not worry about it, Detroit is a good winter airport & on the off chance you can't make it, Ross will understand.

Done with my interview with alum in Bangalore. Mostly conversational. Created a very positive feeling about the school.

The tailgates!

But seriously, it was a combination of the culture and the academics. One thing I learned through my research that it is fairly easy to get caught up in the herd mentality. Certain schools have a mindset that permeates throughout the student body (i.e. NYU=Wall St). Where I think fit plays in is to identify your values/interests with that mindset. I think my mentality fits with Ross.

I loved the Ross program because of its focus on more responsible management. A small example is that Ross has one of the most advanced recycling programs and that the building is LEED certified. Thats cool to me that the students cared to do that. My goal is to go into Energy, and there are some programs that might be better for pure energy (namely, McCombs). However, Ross has several courses on Sustainable Energy, which is an educational perspective I will value. This ties to the more responsible management.

Another reason I loved Ross was the more down-to-earth culture. No one I've ever met from Ross was too impressed with themselves. That is important to me because I couldn't imagine spending two years with individuals who need to prove their awesomeness (even if it is legit) at every moment.

I'm not trying to say other programs don't have this, as they very well might. But the combination of all those factors make it ideal for me. I think visiting this school makes a big difference in this sense. When I was there, i just knew this would be a great place for me. These are just things you won't know about unless you interact with a lot of students.

For admitted students who plan to matriculate, or those who plan to matriculate if admitted, I have a big question: Why Ross? No, seriously, I don't want the answer you gave in your essay or interview. Truly and honestly, why are you planning on attending Ross over other schools? I'd love to hear opinions. PM me if you don't want to put the answer here. Thanks!

Have you visited the campus? I think ross is one of those programs that has more intanglebles. The recruiting is pretty strong for consulting and midwest as a Elite (non-M7) school.

I did visit, and the reason I'm asking is that I didn't... love it. The class I observed was relatively dull and the students seemed uninvolved, everyone was "nice" but no one was particularly forthcoming, and I just really didn't feel like they wanted me there the way I've felt at other schools. Maybe it was a bad day, who knows?

I actually had a similar experience which is part of the reason I was leaning towards Duke. In one class I was in at least two people arrived late and there were people talking during class while the professor was lecturing. I also got a very "young" feel from one group of students I interacted with. On the other hand there were some other students that I thought were very put together and what I'd expect at an MBA program. I came away feeling like I didn't know what I'd end up with. I attended two classes, one kind of turned me off, the other was better but still a little disengaged.

Anyone going to Ann Arbor to interview this Friday? I am arriving Thursday night and will be attending the Ross happy hour with a friend (second year student). I am doing the VIP tour on Friday morning and then my interview after at 11:45 AM. I plan on meeting up with a student ambassador after my interview whom I have been speaking with to hang out and answer some questions about the Zell Institute. My flight leaves Ann Arbor at 7:00 PM so please PM me if you would like to meet up!

I'm not sure if I should be added to the Round 2 or Round 3 list.

I submitted my application January 16th, for round 3, and my second recommendation was received by Ross on the 23rd. On the 25th I received an interview invite with a window of Jan 13th - Feb 12th. I just completed the interview a few minutes ago(28th)

Do people get slid into earlier groups occasionally? My interviewer didn't know for sure but said he was under the impression he was doing group 2 interviews. Thanks for any help.

Yup, they generally do a 40% interview and 50% of those get invites...

R2 is a very big round for Ross.
