My answer is (B). It took me 01:07.

(A) Not a sentence. No main verb.

(C) Lack of parallelism between "are developing" and "trained".
Or, we can eliminate it because "are developing" and "trained" use incompatible tenses.

(D) Not a sentence. No main verb.
Also, "for turning" is wrong.

(E) Lack of parallelism between "are developing" and "trained".
Or, we can eliminate it because "are developing" and "trained" use incompatible tenses.
Also, "for turning" is wrong.

The actual sentence is :

Companies that used to rely on voiceover artists or basic text-to-audio software to turn written articles into audio stories,
now developing humanlike reader technology
and
training reporters in the art of reading out loud to help people with overflowing reading lists.

Above is not in-fact a sentence as it does not have any verb.
<noun>, now developing .....

For the plural noun(companies) , we need a plural verb . Only choices B, C and E have ARE.

Choice E - For turning is not correct as the usage is intentional. An infinitive (To+verb) does better.
Choice C - Companies are not developing trained reporters. (A person can't be developed! :))

Choice B - resolves the above issues and is correct.

Companies that used to rely on voiceover artists or basic text-to-audio software to turn written articles into audio stories, now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters in the art of reading out loud to help people with overflowing reading lists.

A) to turn written articles into audio stories, now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters
No verb for subject

B) to turn written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters
Sentence is parallel and verb is introduced -Looks correct

C) to turn written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and trained reporters
Parallelism of two actions i.e developing and training is lost -Eliminate

D) for turning written articles into audio stories, now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters
No verb for subject

Also "For" is not appropriate as we want to present the purpose

E) for turning written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and trained reporters
Parallelism of two actions i.e developing and training is lost -Eliminate

Also "For" is not appropriate as we want to present the purpose

Companies that used to rely on voiceover artists or basic text-to-audio software to turn written articles into audio stories, now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters in the art of reading out loud to help people with overflowing reading lists.

A) to turn written articles into audio stories, now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters -> Missing verb. Incorrect.

B) to turn written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters -> We have verb now. And, parallelism is also correct, "developing" and "training". Let's keep it.

C) to turn written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and trained reporters -> Parallelism error. "developing" and "trained" are not parallel.

D) for turning written articles into audio stories, now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters -> for turning is incorrect.

E) for turning written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and trained reporters -> for turning is incorrect.

So, I think B. :)

Main verb for subject companies is missing.

B) to turn written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters
Corrects the original error by adding are now developing. Parallelism is maintained by using developing and training.

C) to turn written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and trained reporters
Parallelism/verb tense error. Are now developing and trained reporters do not represent the action as per the intended meaning.

D) for turning written articles into audio stories, now developing humanlike reader technology and training reporters
Usage of for in place of to seems incorrect. The intention of the author is clear and hence to suits the context more appropriately than for does. Repeats the same missing verb error as in the original choice.

E) for turning written articles into audio stories are now developing humanlike reader technology and trained reporters
Repeats errors from choice D and choice C
