Re: Daniel: There are certain actions that moral duty obliges us [#permalink]
Daniel: There are certain actions that moral duty obliges us to perform regardless of their consequences. However, an action is not morally good simply because it fulfills a moral obligation. No action can be morally good unless it is performed with the right motivations.

Carrie: Our motivations for our actions are not subject to our conscious control. Therefore, the only thing that can be required for an action to be morally good is that it fulfill a moral obligation.

Analysis:
Daniel: No action is morally good unless with right motivation
Carrie: Action to be consider morally good requires only fulfillment of moral obligation

The dialogue most supports the claim that Daniel and Carrie are committed to disagreeing with each other about the truth of which one of the following statements?

(A) No one can be morally required to do something that is impossible to do. No one mentions about doing impossible thing

(B) Some actions that are performed with the right motivations are not morally good. In here we talk about absolute, not "some"

(C) All actions that fulfill moral obligations are performed in order to fulfill moral obligations. Kind of running around logic??? Doing A for the sake of A only. Not relevant to our stem

(D) An action performed with the wrong motivations cannot be morally good. Yes. Consistent the the statement: No action is morally good unless with right motivation

(E) If a person's motivations for acting are based on a sense of duty, then that person's action is morally good.No one care about sense of duty. Only about if an action is morally good or not
