Solution

Given:
    • Fred is running along a circular track sweeping an angle of 54 degrees every minute

To find:
    • The number of laps he makes in 24 minutes

Approach and Working Out:
    • He can cover 540 degrees = 360 + 180, that is 1.5 laps in \(\frac{540}{54} = 10\) minutes
    • In 24 minutes, he can cover \(\frac{24 * 1.5}{10} = 3.6\) laps

Hence, the correct answer is Option A.

Given: Fred is running along a circular track sweeping an angle of 54 degrees every minute.

Asked: How many laps does he make in 24 minutes?

1 lap = 360 degrees
54 degrees / min = 54/360 = 3/20 laps/min

In 24 min, laps = (3/20) * 24 = 18/5 laps
