Dear all,

Kindly guide in screening of schools to apply for 2019 batch

Background - MTech Aeronautical
Navy veteran, an Aviation Engineer
10 years experience

Wish list - MBA or EMBA in USA. Planning/general
Industry preferred - Aviation, aerospace

Kindly suggest schools so that I can explore. GMAT scheduled end April.

Here are a few things you may want to consider as you continue your MBA journey akhiparth:

  1. In general, MBA after 30 is tricky; read here. So choose your programs wisely so as not to be a misfit/huge outlier. In that respect, check out the Fellows programs.
  2. MBA and EMBA are very very different and usually serve pretty different purposes. EMBA is usually constrained by the geography you are in. Given that you mention Indian Navy, a US EMBA might be tough logistically speaking at least.
  3. Do read about our experience with candidates of your profile here.

Coming from a Navy background will help - but here's more information you should share:

1) Nationality
2) Gender
3) Age
4) Details of Work Exp (Comany, duration, positions held)
5) Extra Currs

If you can get a score above 750 - US schools ranked 15-25 will be a good bet, given that your essays and other applications materials are well written.

Schools in the top 15 will be difficult given your age and nationality, but if you have a unique story, which is quite often the case with army/navy candidates, it can help you stand out.

Post MBA goals will also be very important - so do your research on that front as well

Thank you for insights. Post conquering 1st milestone aka GMAT score, I would do the exploring part.
