If the price of potatoes is $0.2 per pound, what is the maximum number or potatoes that can be bought for $1.00 ?

(1) The price of a bag of potatoes is $2.8

(2) There are 10-15 potatoes in every 5 pounds

Best explanation gets Kudos.

Statement 1
We don't have any info about number of potatoes in one bag, so we can't find the number of potatoes.
Hence insufficient

Statement 2
price of potatoes = $0.2 per pound,
Therfore in $1.00, we can get (1/0.2 =) 5 pound of potatoes

Given, there are 10-15 potatoes in every 5 pounds
Therefore, we can get maximum 15 potatoes in $1.00
Hence, sufficient

As statement 2 alone is sufficient,
Answer choice B

First statement doesn't have info about # of potatoes (INSUFFICIENT)

Second statement gives info on minimum/maximum # of potatoes in every 5 pounds

So for 1 USD, one can buy 75 potatoes

IMO:B :)

dave13,
Your whole explanation looks correct except part marked in red, it should be 15 Potatoes for 1 USD. Correct me if I am wrong.

(1) We don't know how many potatoes does a bag contain. Insufficient.

(2) $0.2 per pound means 5 pounds in $1. And 10-15 potatoes for every 5 pounds means a maximum of 15 potatoes for $1. Sufficient.

Hence, B.
