A. Like the adulation given to Gandhi
B. As the Gandhi adulation
C. Like that given to Gandhi
D. As it is of Gandhi

E is correct


A is wrong because there is no structural agreement. you can't compare adulation to a human being(Mandela), unless it's poetry and not formal English.

B makes the same improper comparism

C makes the same mistake.

D the second clause in the sentence should start with, "it is also of Mandela..." for the sentence to stand any chance of being sensible. It would still be wrong though.

E rightly compares Gandhi and Mandela which are proper nouns. You can only compare person to person not person to an abstract noun.

IMO. E

Two issues on hand
Comparison
Use of like

Adulation is compared with Mandela which is totally wrong.
Like is used to compare NOUN so
Only E is doing that
E is taking care of comparison error as well ,so E is right

Concept -"like is followed by noun" and "as is followed by clause. Also the comparison is with mandela and gandhi

A. Like the adulation given to Gandhi-->wrong comparision
B. As the Gandhi adulation --> for above stated reason
C. Like that given to Gandhi-->for above stated reason
D. As it is of Gandhi--> same as "A"
E. Like Gandhi correct
