hi guys
I know I'm supposed to ask the school about this, but just want to know your experienc and advice.
I'm currently a 3rd year BBA student in Canada. I will finish my BBA in April 2005 (next year) and want to go straight to MBA without stopping for work experience or break. I 'm working part-time right now at a okay company doing an okay job (this job won't provide me great work exper.) and am volunteering in a non-profit org (i believe i can get some good recomm. letters from them).
I am planning to take the GMAT in the coming July or August and hopefully will get over 700. My high school GPA is REALLY bad (<1 for my final year) and my 1st university year GPA wasn't spectuar either. But for my second and third year GPA is around 3.5-3.8.
Right now i'm 21 years old living in Canada, but i want to try for the top 20 b-school in US. My questions are whether
1) I should apply to the b-school given my par level qualification
2) what school u guys would recommend given the city and the general econ, ( i haven't talked to anyone who have gone to the schools except for Columbia and Yale, which i felt they are v. good schools)
Thanks in advance for all your responses.
Paolo
Paulo,
If you ask my opinion, I'm going to give it to you: You should wait and work for at least two years before going for your MBA. Considering your checkered academic career and limited work experience, you will have a hard time being accepted to a top twenty school at this point in time. You will have even a harder to time getting maximum benefit out of it at this point in time. If you are going to spend the money and take the time to do an MBA, apply when you can go to a top school and when you can benefit the most.
Good luck!
