I have been admitted to two schools in the top 30 category and both schools aren't too far apart from each other.
How do you politely and successfully negotiate the offer between these schools without coming across as "too" commercial?
I have previously tried to negotiate my offer with two schools individually.
They've come back with the same boilerplate response.
"We need a significant GMAT update or a significant promotion at work."
This time I am planning on declaring to each school that I have an offer from another school (almost similarly ranked).
In any case, the net cost at one school is 100K, while it is 110K at the other school.
Well, the 10K obviously isn't too much of a difference considering a 20-year career post-MBA.
However, it is the base figure of 100K itself that implies a massive debt considering the plans I have upon graduation.
The best approach is to contact the school you want to go to and advise them of your interest but also of your dilemma given more money from a similarly ranked school. It very well may not work but the best approach is to be up front and tell them you are considering another school because of the $10K and see if they are interested in you enough to offer more money.
Good luck.
Best,
